Save A Dog 9th Annual Benefit Auction About Save A Dog Save A Dog, Inc. is a non-profit humane society, founded in 1999, whose mission is to save and find forever homes for abandoned dogs. Every year millions of dogs are put to sleep because of pet overpopulation. Our goal is to try to save as many lives as we can by utilizing both volunteers and supporters who are inspired to help. We provide our rescued dogs with loving care, a holistic protocol, medical care, and a place to stay while searching for their permanent homes. In November of 2008, we moved the operation out of our founder’s home in Wayland into a new location at 604 Boston Post Road in Sudbury. This rent-to-own facility, while safely set back from the road, offers us the visibility our rescued dogs need in order to find homes more quickly, and thus make room for other dogs in need. The main building, where guests sign-in, has a warm, inviting lobby, a retail shop, and a Meet-and-Greet room with comfortable sofas where people can meet the dog of their dreams in a homey setting. The kennel building has 13 runs and a puppy room inside, and 3 fenced-in play yards outside. While we still depend on our volunteer foster families, the kennel offers us a place to quarantine incoming dogs and thereafter a safe place in which to introduce them to people looking to adopt a dog. Every day a small army of dedicated volunteers provides round-the-clock care for the dogs as well as regular exercise and enrichment to make their stay more pleasant. To fund our day -to-day operating costs, we depend entirely upon private donations. This Auction is crucial to keeping us viable throughout the winter months. Every single dollar we raise makes a difference in the life of a dog. ON OUR COVER: GYPSY, A SWEET SENIOR DOG WHO SPENT MOST OF HER LIFE LIVING OUTDOORS AT AN ANIMAL SANCTUARY -- UNTIL WE RESCUED HER IN 2007. GYPSY SHOWED US ALL THAT OLDER DOGS KNOW HOW TO REDEEM THE YEARS THAT WERE STOLEN FROM THEM. TONIGHT’S AUCTION IS DEDICATED IN GYPSY’S MEMORY. 604 Boston Post Road, Sudbury, MA 01776 (978) 443-7282 ~ [email protected] www.saveadog.org 2 A Guide to the Auction We are offering our guests both a silent and a live auction tonight. Be sure to visit these tables upon your arrival and place your bids. The rules are simple: When you see an item you like, enter your bid and bidder number (the number on your paddle) on the bid sheet (all bids must be in whole dollar increments). Return to check on the item often and adjust your bid if necessary to make sure yours is the highest. Silent Auction tables will be closed for bidding in the following order: Section 1 Closes at: 7:20 pm Section 2 Closes at: 7:30 pm An announcement will be made prior to the closing of each lot so that you can bid one last time. After the closing of each lot, winners sheets will be distributed to each table and posted by the silent auction. Check these to see if yours was the winning bid. Live Auction Things will really start to get exciting as these unique and very special items are introduced. Be sure to look them over ahead of time, and bid high and often. Remember that you are helping needy adoptable dogs every time you raise your paddle! 3 Paying For Your Auction Purchases Running tabs for each bidder will be maintained throughout the auction for both silent and live auction items. You may go to the checkout table(s) in the lobby to receive your itemized bill after the special presentation following the live auction.
