VQ39653Z001 13-Dec-2013 15:55 Faster Broadband for Tharston & Hapton

Better Broadband for Norfolk (BBfN) is a multi-million-pound partnership funded through Norfolk County Council, BT and the Department of Culture, Media and Sport. The partnership has been in operation for the past few years with the objective of providing faster broadband to areas of Norfolk in which it would not make commercial sense. More information can be found at www.betterbroadbandnorfolk.co.uk

BBfN has already delivered Faster Broadband to Tharston. Hapton will have access to faster broadband by the end of 2018

With faster broadband delivered, you will not see any change to your existing broadband connection, unless you contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) eg BT, PlusNet, TalkTalk etc. and upgrade (at a cost) to a Fibre broadband package. If you do not already have a broadband connection, then you will be able to directly request a Fibre broadband connection.

The download speed that you can expect from faster broadband depends on the distance to your nearest fibre cabinet; within 800-400 meters 28Mb/sec within 400 meters 40Mb/sec. For Tharston you can see the location of the existing cabinets. For Hapton, assume that the cabinet will be located opposite the school. For comparison, the speed of your existing broadband, if you do not already know it, can be found here http://www.speedtest.btwholesale.com/

The residents of Tharston can request access to Faster Broadband from their ISP now. We will inform you when Hapton has access to Faster Broadband.

It should be noted that there are a very few properties in the parish that will not be able to access faster broadband. If on speaking to your ISP you are one of these properties, then there may be
