WHAT TO WATCH FOR -- PITCHING/DEFENSE - Coach Tarr will have several experienced options in the deck with sophomore transfer Madi Schreyer, junior Casey Stangel, senior Hailey Bator and one of the top pitching recruits in the country coming out of high school in Taran Alvelo.

- Among the pitchers returning, Bator and Stangel saw the most action last season. Bator appeared in 31 games, making eight starts and earning a 12-3 record while Stangel started 14 games with a 9-4 record.

- Senior Kimberlee Souza earned the lion’s share of time behind the dish last season, starting 52 games, hitting .308 with 45 hits, including seven doubles and seven home runs with 39 RBI. Fresh- man Morganne Flores will also see time at the catcher position.

- The UW returns two of the best defenders in the country in short stop Ali Aguilar and first baseman Courtney Gano.
