Evansville Day School (EDS), in partnership with parents, offers a student-centered, preparatory program supported by a challenging and comprehensive curriculum that encourages each student from Junior Pre-Kindergarten through grade 12 to strive for excellence in mind, body, and human spirit. Founded in 1946, EDS is the only in the Southwest (tri-state) region and enrolls approximately 320 students.

Job Description: The Director of Advancement is responsible for leading the School’s fundraising program (including planning, management, and implementation) as adopted by the Board of Trustees. With the goal to attract the maximum gift support possible for the School to meet operating and longer-term endowment and capital needs, the Director oversees Annual Fund, major and restricted gift fundraising, planned giving, capital campaign, grant writing, and special events. The Director is also responsible for cultivating strong relationships with Board members, donors, faculty, administration, and community leaders.

Key responsibilities ● Design and implement strategies/systems for donor cultivation, solicitation, and relations. ● Present and implement an advancement plan to the Board of Trustees. ● Regularly report fundraising progress to relevant stakeholders. ● Maintain contact with and develop grant proposals for foundations and corporations. ● Work with staff and volunteers to develop goals and strategies to enhance Annual Fund (current goal = $175,000 annually). ● Plan for and implement a major gift program, including planned giving. ● Oversee Alumni Relations, including 5-year reunion and (to be created) Hall of Fame. ● Collaborate with Director of Marketing to promote fundraising goals and activities. ● Participate actively in the feasibility study and, if applicable, activities of a capital campaign. ● Participate as a member of the senior Administrative Team ● Conduct fundraising training for the Board of Trustees

Other Responsibilities ● Update, maintain, and enhance data records through Renweb’s Donor Connect program. ● Work closely with “Friends” (parent association) to enhance the annual Gala and other volunteer led fundraising efforts. ● Manage pledge reminder and acknowledgement systems. ● Assist the Board with recommending and researching potential new members. ● Establish and maintain an annual budget. ● Pursue ongoing professional development including conferences and school visits. ● Other duties as assigned by the Head of School.

Qualifications: ● Experience leading successful fundraising programs, preferably in schools ● Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred ● Experience developing and implementing sophisticated fundraising systems ● Ability to forge relationships with and motivate faculty, staff, and volunteers ● Excellent communication skills, especially writing and networking ● Visionary, innovative, flexible ● Excellent work ethic, organization, and attention to detail ● Ability to work independently and collaborate as part of a team ● Ability to meet deadlines, balance competing priorities, and maintain a sense of humor ● Passion for education and for EDS’ mission and vision
