Born in 1959, he is an immensely practical composer who first won widespread attention with his opera Flight – an airport Pinocchios Abenteuer The Adventures of Pinocchio comedy commissioned by Glyndebourne Touring Opera in 1998 and subsequently performed throughout Europe, USA and Australia. Dove has a remarkable gift for writing supremely theatrical, quick-witted music – its roots as much in the musical- theatre masterpieces of Sondheim and Bernstein as in the The Adventures operas of Britten and Stravinsky.
