It is impossible for anybody else to believe in you. The reason for this is because nobody else knows your thoughts, dreams and desires. Even if you try to explain exactly what is it that you want in life, still it is next to impossible to make anybody else understand your life’s true vision. So why waste time trying to expect someone else to believe in our dreams. The moment we drop this expectation from people around us, we become strong and practical. It is extremely unscientific and impractical to expect someone else to believe in us and our dreams. Trying to explain to people your deepest desires is like banging your head against a wall, there is absolutely nothing that is going to come out of it. You have to believe in yourself and there is no other way out. This is why life is such a difficult experience. There is nothing else that makes life so challenging other than the fact that you alone are responsible for everything that happens in your life. When the strength of your inner belief reduces, you become confused and lost. Lack of personal conviction and belief in something is the root cause of all pain and suffering. Each human being is an island, cut off from everything else. All our experiences and personal visions are restricted to this island. Once in a while we can invite a few people and give them a tour of our island, but it is impossible to make them understand why our island is the way it is? Each life is so unique and different that only the experiencing self knows what it really wants. This is why it is so important to invest considerable time and energy to understand your mind, body and yourself. The more you know about yourself, the clearer your path becomes. Knowing yourself is the way to eliminate unnecessary doubts and confusions. A person who knows himself enough does not need any external support mechanism like someone else’s belief. His belief is enough. Also, knowing that you are the only person who can see your dreams makes it extremely easy to understand different and contrary opinions of people. How much of our time is wasted in trying to explain to people what is it that we exactly want? How much of pain and suffering do we experience in being rejected and ridiculed by people around us. Self-belief will put an end to all this. Self-belief removes all other false comforts and helps you to stay focused on what you want. When the necessity to please everybody drops, it becomes that much easier to focus on working towards your dreams. You will not be unnecessarily troubled by negative criticism and distractions. Most people give up on their dreams not because they do not possess the necessary skills to get to their goals. They give up because they pay too much attention to opinions of people around them. Once an individual becomes clear about what he wants and makes a firm decision to belief in it fully, then the opinions of people around won’t matter much. Career Scope in Armed Forces # CREATIVITY You ask, “Why DOES the world need poetry?” And I say... Its writing is my sanity, my armour versus apathy, my dealing-with-it strategy, my joy, my strange proclivity, my vital creativity. Its reading dulls cacophony A Guest lecture on “Career Scope in Armed Forces" for Science and Engineering and mindless mediocrity then floods me with philosophy students was organized on 22 November 2017 in which Mr. Abhinav Singh, 2nd in and tenderness and jollity Command, Border Security Force, Sriganganar, shared his vast experience with the that elevate life’s quality. students. New Business Venture: Opportunities and Financing Possibilities Dr. Sanjeev Mittal, Professor and Dean, GGS Indraprastha University, delivered an interactive and practical lecture on “New Business Venture: Opportunities and Financing Possibilities” at RNB Global University, Bikaner. It was an hour and a half long interaction with the students on how innovation and entrepreneurship go hand on hand. He emphasized that Entrepreneurship can’t be taught in the traditional sense of sitting in a classroom listening to a lecture. It is very much an experiential subject that requires “learning by doing”—that is, action and interaction in the real world to find product or market fit. Dr. Mittal also said that a lot on breaking the barriers of a common way of thinking that a job is the right way. He went ahead and clarified that on joining a big company one would end up being a very small part of that organization whereas if one would think of initiating a business of his own he would be looking after every big & small things the way he wants and apply his knowledge too. He also discussed the export and import formalities and requirements for starting the business across the world. This session was interesting as concept was explained with real life examples of many successful entrepreneurs.

  • November 19Th News: International: UN-Led Ministerial Conference In
November 19th news: International: UN-led ministerial conference in Moscow agrees universal commitment to end tuberculosis On 17th November, 75 ministers announced a landmark agreement to take urgent action to end tuberculosis (TB) by 2030 at the conclusion of a World Health Organization (WHO) conference in Moscow, Russia, on eradicating the world's deadliest infectious disease. Together with UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed and Mr. Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Russian President Vladimir Putin opened the Conference on 16 November. The gathering brought together delegates from 114 countries. The newly-minted Moscow Declaration to End TB is a promise to increase multisectoral action as well as track progress, and build accountability. It will also inform the first UN General Assembly High-Level Meeting on TB in 2018, which will seek further commitments from heads of State. Since 2000, global efforts to combat the disease have saved an estimated 53 million lives and reduced the TB mortality rate by 37 per cent. However, progress in many countries has stalled, global targets are off-track and persistent gaps remain in TB care and prevention. As a result, TB still kills more people than any other infectious disease. There are also major problems associated with antimicrobial resistance, and it is the leading killer of people with HIV. More than 1,000 participants took part in the two-day conference, which was attended by ministers and country delegations, as well as representatives of civil society and international organizations, scientists and researchers. The end result was a collective commitment to ramp up action on four fronts. The first pledge was to rapidly move to achieve universal health coverage by strengthening health systems and improving access to people-centred TB prevention and care so no one is left behind.

Yukta, as one would expect from a beauty queen, was resplen - dent. She towered over her subjects and had the whitest teeth I’d ever seen. No matter where I stood on that terrace overlooking the Arabian Sea, I could see Yukta’s crown bobbing its way through the throngs. People were euphoric, filled with national pride. Having grown up in the West where most of us regard beauty contests as passé, I found Yukta’s homecoming both curi - ous and moving. For me, it was as much about her as it was about India. I have been going to India now for nearly 15 years, and the more time I spend there, the more I realize that what India does best is teach. It teaches one to see that assumptions are never safe and nothing is simple. Sabira Merchant, one of the key pageant voices in the film, says, “There are two Indias.” I would say there are many Indias, and they are doing battle with each other now, just as they always have been. In The World Before Her , I chose to focus on the battle between tradition and “modernity,” fundamentalism and Director Nisha Pahuja.

  • Reconnecting to the NRI Through Popular Hindi Cinema
BOLLYWOODIZING DIASPORAS: Reconnecting to the NRI through Popular Hindi Cinema A thesis submitted to the Miami University Honors Program in partial fulfillment of the requirements for University Honors with Distinction. and Submitted to the School of Interdisciplinary Studies (Western College Program) in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Bachelor of Philosophy in Interdisciplinary Studies. By Pulkit Datta Miami University Oxford, Ohio 2008 2 ABSTRACT _____________________________ This project explores the recent shift in focus of popular Hindi (Bollywood) films from domestic characters encountering social issues, to members of the South Asian diaspora (primarily in the West) negotiating their ethnic identities. This project offers insights into the evolution of the Bollywood narrative where identities are being renegotiated and connections with traditional Indian culture are being challenged. Acknowledging the economic liberalization of India as catalyst, this paper examines the representation of the Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) and their connectedness with the diasporic reality in which they live. The representation is discussed in terms of the impact that religion, gender, sexuality, and regional/national politics have on the creation of a hybridized ethnic identity. Moreover, recent NRI-centric films are openly utilizing the diasporic characters as a safer experimental platform to negotiate these complex issues. The 2003 release of Kal Ho Naa Ho acts as the central example of a film that follows all the Bollywood conventions, yet due to its complete focus on the diaspora, can also be seen as non-Bollywood. The film's multiple subplots, tackling a wide range of issues among the diaspora, offer an engaging explanation of India's portrayal of its expatriates as a socially liberal, affluent, culturally liminal, and hybridized ethnic population within their host societies.
