The national team of the Netherlands needs no introduction in the world of football. Although the Netherlands have never won the FIFA World Cup, they have been runners-up on three separate occasions – in 1974 (Germany), 1978 (Argentina) and 2010 (South Africa). The country also came 3rd in the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, and 4th in the 1998 World Cup hosted by France. After failing to qualify for the competition in Russia last time out, they will be determined to top the group and make it to Qatar in 2022.

The squad is full of household names. Now captained by Georginio Wijnaldum following the injury to club teammate Virgil Van Dijk, Frank de Boer’s side includes plenty of world stars who ply their trade in the , , and Ligue Un.

The head coach likewise needs no introduction. Frank de Boer is perhaps best known for his playing stints at Ajax and FC Barcelona (where he played alongside his twin, Ronald). Prior to coaching his national team, de Boer spent a couple of seasons on the other side of the Atlantic, coaching Atlanta United in MLS. He also briefly coached in the Premier League at Crystal Palace.
