GIF ESSAY: Glass 1 Kimber Torres IDS 307T: Digital Writing Matthew Beale Paper 1: GIF Essay February 09, 2020 The Movie: Glass It’s been what seems like forever and now the trilogy will finally be complete. The movie trailer looks unbelievable. The sequel to the Unbreakable and Split has finally happened. This psychological thriller produced by M. Night Shyamalan, starring Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson that can only get better with the addition of the young Mr. Charles Xavier himself, James McAvoy. The guy is a genius when it comes to his craft. His talent was shining in the first sequel: Split. I couldn’t wait to sit down with a large bowl of popcorn with layered butter and a box of snowcaps at my side to fully enjoy what was about to unfold. The lights fade in the movie theater and the opening credits begin. The trailers play showing the audience some amazing movies coming out in the near future. Looks like I’ll be coming back when some of these movies come out. The room grows pitch black and the first scene opens up with a dark scene, of course. It looks like a large dirty room, maybe a boarded-up factory. Kevin GIF ESSAY: Glass 2 (McAvoy) comes out of the shadows and into the only light in the room. Ms. Patricia, one ego that orchestrates some of his actions and controls the other personalities walked through a door was and is facing four girls tied to a pipe in what looks like a factory.

  • First-Run Smoking Presentations in U.S. Movies 1999-2006
First-Run Smoking Presentations in U.S. Movies 1999-2006 Jonathan R. Polansky Stanton Glantz, PhD CENTER FOR TOBAccO CONTROL RESEARCH AND EDUCATION UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, SAN FRANCISCO SAN FRANCISCO, CA 94143 April 2007 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Smoking among American adults fell by half between 1950 and 2002, yet smoking on U.S. movie screens reached historic heights in 2002, topping levels observed a half century earlier.1 Tobacco’s comeback in movies has serious public health implications, because smoking on screen stimulates adolescents to start smoking,2,3 accounting for an estimated 52% of adolescent smoking initiation. Equally important, researchers have observed a dose-response relationship between teens’ exposure to on-screen smoking and smoking initiation: the greater teens’ exposure to smoking in movies, the more likely they are to start smoking. Conversely, if their exposure to smoking in movies were reduced, proportionately fewer teens would likely start smoking. To track smoking trends at the movies, previous analyses have studied the U.S. motion picture industry’s top-grossing films with the heaviest advertising support, deepest audience penetration, and highest box office earnings.4,5 This report is unique in examining the U.S. movie industry’s total output, and also in identifying smoking movies, tobacco incidents, and tobacco impressions with the companies that produced and/or distributed the films — and with their parent corporations, which claim responsibility for tobacco content choices. Examining Hollywood’s product line-up, before and after the public voted at the box office, sheds light on individual studios’ content decisions and industry-wide production patterns amenable to policy reform.

  • Frankie Muniz Denies Being Suicidal During Fight with Girlfriend
Frankie Muniz Denies Being Suicidal During Fight With Girlfriend Police were called to former Malcolm in the Middle star Frankie Muniz’s house after a fight with his girlfriend turned serious, according to People. His publicist girlfriend, Elycia Turnbow, told police that Muniz put a handgun to his head “possibly with [the] intent of committing suicide.” The actor’s rep countered, saying, “A gun played no part in the argument and was voluntarily given to the police for safekeeping… He was not suicidal.” Ironically, Muniz was the one who called police to the residence, complaining that Turnbow was “throwing things and hitting [him].” What are some ways to keep fights from escalating? Cupid’s Advice: When things get heated between you and a partner, it’s important not to lose control. Cupid has some tips on how to keep a lover’s quarrel from turning ugly: 1. Think ahead: Remember the last time you fought and you said things you wish you could take back? Next time, think carefully before you do or say something you’ll regret later. 2. Slow down: Take a step back from the situation before things get out of control. By pausing for a minute and taking some deep breaths, you can stop the fight from escalating. 3. Never resort to violence: If you’re feeling so worked up that you’re considering physical violence, walk away from the situation immediately and tell your mate you can talk later, once you’ve both calmed down..

Like those students, I am excited about the prospects of the future, especially since new leadership aff ords the opportunity for an institutional renaissance. I am working diligently to that end. Overall, Lincoln has deep-rooted traditions and a legacy of excellence that is evidenced by the global leaders this institution continues to produce. Few universities, our size or larger, can boast such a record. Aside from our esteemed administration, faculty and staff , our students and our 13,000 plus alumni are our greatest and most valued resource. When those of you achieve, we achieve; and so we will continue to embrace and celebrate those successes. While we always welcome our visiting alumni, we especially encourage you all to return for three signifi cant events. Th ey are our newly-scheduled Founder’s Day Observance in February; Commencement in May, at which all focus should be on our graduates and their full indoctrination as active and supportive alumni; and fi nally, Homecoming in October.
