In almost every in- stance, the owners felt they were acting reasonably. The people con- tacting us had a far different opinion. I don’t view these differences as questions of who is right and who is wrong. Rather, I think we are confronted with potentially irritating conduct which, if left unchecked, can cause escalating reactions. For most of us the move to Sterling Pointe has us living in a much more densely populated environment. That density means that we need to have a heightened sensitivity to how our actions and conduct impact upon our neighbors. It is one of the compromises you have to make living in a community like ours. In the long run, a little con- sideration on the part of each of us will make living at Sterling Pointe more enjoyable for all of us. The nature of the event: will there be food, will there be music, is a speaker involved. Vendors are contacted for their availability, menus are created and some price negotiating is done, budgets are then worked up, before a flyer announcing the date AAA Express is created. Once all that is done and the event is advertised, I have to count on the community for their support by signing up. For all events where vendors are concerned and contracts are signed, and in some Transportation cases deposits are given, time is of the essence in order for an event Limo & Car Service to be cancelled without monetary damage. You’ve just been to the local shelter, or at a breeder, and already your heart rate is up as you hold that special Fido or Fluffy in your arms. What a wonderful feeling to love and be loved! But there are monetary costs to ownership and it’s best to go in with not only with an open heart but also with an eye on your wallet. Most pet parents can expect to spend a fraction of the following amounts for a healthy pet during its lifetime but pet costs can increase from an illness or injury. Here are some things to think about: $80 average for shelter adoption fees/$1000+ from a breeder; good quality or food - $20+/bag or case per month; $10 for leash/collar; toys - $5-40; dog grooming - $35/visit; flea/tick/heartworm preventatives - $5-150; medications for health conditions - $100+/month; and vet visits and well care at $100+. Can you control some of these costs? Consider setting up a special sav- ings account to help pay for unexpected costs and carefully investigate a health care medical insurance policy for the life of the pet. PAIN FREE PETS There is a new, non-invasive pain treatment for pets with chronic illnesses, such as diabetes or arthritis, called holistic laser treatments. According to Holistic Vet, Dr. Jill Elliot, “These lasers have been used for about 40 years in people and are now being used on pets. The laser treatment works by stimulating healthy cells in the damage area to start restoring and repairing the problem. It’s painless, it’s non-invasive and you don’t feel anything. There is no medicine that they have to give the animal, and they usually see results within the first day or two.” Vets recommend 4 to 12 treatments with a cost of about $60 per session.
