Communiqué De Presse 10 JUIN 2017 Mixed emotions for Renault e.dams from Saturday’s Berlin ePrix After poor qualifying results that saw Nico Prost start from ninth on the grid and Séb Buemi fourteenth, Renault e.dams drove a strong first race at the Berlin ePrix doubleheader. Championship leader Séb Buemi took fifth place at the chequered flag, with teammate Nico Prost one place adrift in sixth. Postrace, however, Séb was disqualified for his car failing to comply with the minimum tyre pressure. When the lights went out, both drivers made strong starts but failed to make up any positions on the opening lap. Their mission was then to carve their way through the field, with Séb Buemi first to make progress by overtaking Stéphane Sarrazin on lap 7 to go P12. Nico also saw an opportunity and made a bold move on Maro Engel into Turn 1 to take eighth place. A few laps later, Séb was again on the move and made a manoeuvre stick on the inside of Jérôme d’Ambrosio at Turn 9 and gained another place. Before both drivers made their mandatory car swap, Séb Buemi was in ninth position while Nico Prost was seventh. After a great car change, Prost headed back out on track in sixth. It was not long before Séb was back attacking his rivals and made another confident pass on Daniel Abt for P8. With ten laps to go, the title leader pulled off a superb move on Sam Bird and took P7 before overtaking his teammate for P6.

Case in point, this is version three of an attempt to write this news journal for the club in December 2020, and the main reason on this struggle? Lack of motivation as a result of getting sick. I realised I caught the flu (real flu – not man flu), and a check in with my Doctor revealed a severe lack of Vitamin D (That’s lack of sunlight) and Vitamin B. In turn with all that going on, I was working 12-hour days, and something had to give.

  • Understanding the Place-Specific Formation Processes of Sustainable Urban Experiments a Mixed Method Comparative Case Study of Formula E
Master’s thesis - master Innovation Sciences Understanding the place-specific formation processes of sustainable urban experiments A mixed method comparative case study of Formula E July 27, 2021 Author: Marius Roeterdink, BSc Student number: 5673127 Contact: [email protected] Supervisor: Dr. J. Hoekman Second reader: Dr. ir. J.C.L Torrens Master’s Thesis – Master Innovation Sciences GEO4-2239X Faculty of Geosciences, Utrecht University 0 Place-specific formation processes of sustainable urban experiments Abstract Cities are increasingly recognized as frontrunners in the transition to a more sustainable society due to their assembly of technology, resources, population, culture, and economics. This is, amongst others, visible from a global increase in urban actors collaborating to experiment with new sustainable configurations. These so-called sustainable urban experiments, embedded in a broader niche, are not confined to a specific spatial context but will rather emerge in complex ‘place bundles’, forming a global niche. However, the formation of a global niche is interrelated with local experimentation and is thereby locally rooted. A prime example is sustainable motorsports experiment Formula E. Formula E operates on a global scale with numerous multinational companies involved but is set in urban environments and the local regional context arguably influences the formation of such events. In other words, Formula E is a global sustainable urban experiment which is locally embedded. Considerable variation in the way a sustainable urban experiment is formed locally is likely to exist. The objective of this study was to complement strategic niche management and sustainable transitions literature by understanding the specific place-specific factors under which global sustainable urban experiments are formed.

  • The MICHELIN Pilot Sport EV Rises Successfully to a Fresh Challenge in the Streets of Berlin
MEDIA INFORMATION FIA Formula E Championship Berlin ePrix (Round 8) The MICHELIN Pilot Sport EV rises successfully to a fresh challenge in the streets of Berlin The switch from the abrasive taxiways of the former Tempelhof Airport that Formula E visited in 2015 to the centre of Berlin for the eighth clash of the 2015/2016 calendar provided the championship with a new showcase. The MICHELIN Pilot Sport EV rose to the occasion to demonstrate its extraordinary versatility once again in front of a bumper crowd. Formula E’s second Berlin ePrix (Saturday, May 21) – the first to be held in the city’s central Mitte district – took place in beautiful sunny conditions. The 11-turn track, which ran from the Alexanderplatz to Strausberger Platz, was one of the shortest of the calendar at a little less than two kilometres in length, but the two long, relatively wide straights ensured plenty of overtaking opportunities. But while the surface of the city centre’s roads was sufficient for everyday motoring, it featured several portions of repaired asphalt which provided varying levels of grip to keep the Formula E drivers on their toes. Said Serge Grisin, manager of Michelin’s Formula E programme: “The MICHELIN Sport EV has faced many different track configurations since the beginning of the first Formula E Championship but the repeated changes of grip it had to cope with here in Berlin was an entirely new scenario. In theory, the characteristics of the circuit were expected to be similar to those we came across in Paris last month, but the reality was somewhat different.

  • Formula E 2016/2017 – Home Glory for the MICHELIN Pilot Sport
MEDIA INFORMATION 2016/2017 FIA Formula E Championship ePrix of Paris – 6th round Home glory for the MICHELIN Pilot Sport EV2 The second running of the Paris Formula E ePrix took place in a festive atmosphere after the 7,000 grandstand seats sold out within 24 hours of going on sale, while more than 10,000 people explored the e-Village which was entirely free this year. A number of ‘fan zones’ located around the circuit enabled racing fans and casual visitors alike to enjoy a variety of entertainment and follow the action on giant screens. Seen mixing it with the public was the Michelin Man who is always a popular hit at events, while out on the track the MICHELIN Pilot Sport EV2 Formula E – which was introduced at the start of the 2016/2017 championship – was making its debut appearance in the streets of the French capital. With the exception of the pit lane exit, which was slightly modified compared with 2016, the circuit was identical to the 1.920km layout (14 turns: 6 left / 8 right) used last season. And once again, it proved particularly popular with both the drivers and the local spectators, most of whom would probably never have imagined that their city would one day host a major motor race in the heart of the Hôtel des Invalides district! “The feedback we have had from our partners about the MICHELIN Pilot Sport EV2 since the start of the 2016/2017 campaign has been positive,” remarks Serge Grisin, the manager of Michelin’s Formula E programme.
