President’s Message ,

It is very encouraging to see surmounting enthusiasm and excitement amongst all of our community members as they prepare for our 25th anniversary celebration. We have more than 250 members participating in the cultural program and 200 volunteers putting forth their selfless efforts in order to make this celebration a reality. On behalf of the EC & BOD, I invite everyone to participate and enjoy the celebration of the 25th anniversary of our Jinalaya. This anniversary is a celebration of all the achievements and success of our community over the last 25 years.

Today, we are enjoying the fruits of hard work of our volunteers, who have worked tirelessly, our donors, and sponsors, who donated generously, and all our past and present Executive Committee and BOD members, who have provided strong leadership that has allowed us to reach the stage we are at today. This could not have happened without everyone's collective efforts. I am very proud of our community's unity and dedication. With this spirit of unity, dedication and humanitarian services, I am confident that we will have a glorious and successful future for the newer generation.

As Colin Powell once said, "A dream doesn't become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination, and hard work." What we once dreamed about for our center 25 years ago has materialized into something better than what we had fantasized all because of our community members. I thank you all for your everlasting commitment and support to our center.

Sincerely, Dr. Jayesh Shah President, JCSC.

45 Aagam Maha Pujan on Sat June 29, 2013 with Meaning Aagams are the most sacred scriptures for Jains. It carries Lord Mahavir’s oral preaching which was compiled into scriptures by the Gandhars - Scholars who actually were present when he was preaching. These scriptures are known as Jain Aagam or Aagam Sutras.

The Aagam Sutras teach great reverence for all forms of life, strict codes of vegetarianism, asceticism, compassion, nonviolence, and opposition to war. In olden times, Jain ascetics believe that the religious books and scriptures are possessions and attachments. Therefore the scriptures were not documented in any form but were memorized by ascetics and passed on by oral tradition to future generations of ascetics. About one thousand years after Lord Mahavir's nirvana the memorized Aagam sutras and their commentaries were recorded on leafy papers (Tadpatra). We will have all Aagams on TADPATRA.

The procession & Aagam pujan marks our utmost respect towards these Holy Scriptures.

The Puja Process: Aagam Arpan family (2 members) will come to Aradhana hall between 7 to 8AM prior to procession. Volunteers will verify their name and give them Indhoni, decorative chhab with Aagam book & Chhatra with chhadi. Then they will join in parking lot at designated area and proceed for procession as guided by JCYC volunteers. One family member will carry Chhab with Aagam book and another member will shelter Aagam (as a mark of reverence & respect) with Chhatra in procession all the way. Procession will last for one hour - 8:15AM to 9:15AM.

After procession, when they arrive at Jain Center, they will enter through cultural hall's main front door. Aagam Arpan family members will welcome / honor-vadhavse-Aagam. In Cultural hall volunteers will guide them to the designated Aagam Mandir, where they will first put Indhoni and then keep Chhab with Aagam book on it. Chhatra will also be kept there till the end of Aagam pujan. After the Aagam pujan, Chhab, and chhatras will be given to the Aagam bharvano sponsors as a memory of ceremony. Pooja clothes not required for procession.

Aagam Pujan will be performed from 12 Noon to 5:30PM. Aagam pujan family (4 members) will join for pujan by 12 noon sharp in cultural hall at designated area near their sponsored Aagam Mandir. When their name is announced, volunteers will guide family of 4 will proceed to the stage for Pujan on main yantra & Aagam. Puja clothes are required for pujan on main yantra and Aagam. After pujan, they will come back to their original place to continue pujan on small yantra. Clean, un used clothes are required for pujan on small yantra.

All beneficiaries will be provided small 45 Aagam yantra with puja samagri. However they are requested to come with puja thali, preferably silver, to accommodate 8” x 6" Yantra. After Pujan they will carry yantra at home.

This is very unique pujan - first time in America. Aagams written on Tadpatra are for spiritual and Gyan enrichment of community. So JCSC request all participants to pay all respect and discipline during pujan.
