  • High School Student and Parent Handbook Leander ISD Vision
High School Student and Parent Handbook 2019-2020 Leander ISD Vision Encourage, inspire, achieve for lifelong success. Leander ISD Goals 1) Maximize academic growth for each student. 2) Prepare each student for college and career success. 3) Inspire the whole child. 4) Engage each student in relevant learning. 5) Ensure a world class workforce focused on student achievement. 6) Manage district resources effectively. 7) Communicate effectively with our community to build relationships. Leander Independent School District High School Handbook Welcome to Leander Independent School District! As parents and students, you have an interest in the policies and procedures which govern the schools of the District. Policies are established with the purpose of creating an orderly, friendly, academically superior environment for each student. This handbook contains a great deal of required and useful information for a large number of students and parents. It cannot be as personal as we would like. Therefore, we address students, not directly as "you" but rather as "the student," "student," or "children." The term "the student's parent" may refer to the parent, legal guardian, or other person who has agreed to assume responsibility for the student. This handbook is intended to communicate basic information concerning the operation of the District's schools. The information provided should assist parents and students in learning about the schools and knowing what the schools expect of students. The school program and facilities exist for the students’ use. It is hoped that students will use them to the fullest extent. Policies Much of the information in this handbook is based on policies adopted by the Leander ISD Board of Trustees.

Index 1 provides a snapshot of student performance across all subjects, Index 2 measures year-to-year student improvement, Index 3 emphasizes the academic achievement of certain student groups, and Index 4 emphasizes the importance of a high school diploma for success in postsecondary life. Additionally, distinction designations highlight achievement in specific areas by those districts and campuses that earn a Met Standard rating. Finally, system safeguards ensure that³in an aggregated district or campus report³substandard performance in one or more areas or by one or more student groups is not disguised by higher performance in other areas or by other student groups. The State of Texas More than five million students were enrolled in Texas public schools in the 2016²17 school year, and they took more than eight and one-half million STAAR assessments in reading, mathematics, writing, science, and social studies.

  • PLANNING for the FUTURE HIGH SCHOOL COURSE CATALOG 2017 - 2018 Welcome to Leander ISD
PLANNING FOR THE FUTURE HIGH SCHOOL COURSE CATALOG 2017 - 2018 Welcome To Leander ISD Dear Parents and Students: As you examine this very important document, consider mapping out your future. Do not think about next year: think about where you want to be in five years. In LISD, our goal is to empower students to reach their academic potential to create a globally competitive work force. Our district prides itself on providing an academically rigorous and challenging program for all students. Ours is a college-going culture, where students aspire to academic excellence and personal best, positioning themselves for success in college and careers beyond. Each decision you make now will affect the options you will have later. Challenge yourself fully and develop a plan that keeps your options open, rather than one that may limit you later. Research shows that students who take more challenging courses in math, science, and the humanities, participate in advanced programs, and earn college credit while in high school are more likely to be successful in college and in their careers. For that reason, it is important to plan a challenging academic program and strongly pursue your interests. Understanding the rich array of courses available to you and the planning required is the first step in making these important decisions. • DEVELOPING A 4-YEAR PLAN − To ensure all students complete a challenging course of study and reach their potential, students begin the planning process during their 8th grade year. In addition, all students are enrolled in Methodology for Academic and Personal Success (MAPS)/Professional Communications during their 9th grade year.

  • 2016-2017 GSCTX Gold Award Yearbook
Gold2016–2017 YearbookGirl Dear Gold Award Recipients, Congratulations! You made it! You have achieved the highest award in Girl Scouting. As a Gold Award recipient, you are a part of an elite group of women. Since 1916, Girl Scouts have been given the opportunity to earn this prestigious award, and those who completed the journey have changed their own lives and the lives of others in amazing and significant ways. The leadership skills, organizational competence, and sense of community and commitment that come from “Going for the Gold” sets the foundation for a lifetime of active citizenship. I see a very bright future for each and every one of you. Today is a great day to be a girl. While there is still a long way to go to achieve total equality, there has been no better time to be a girl than in today’s America. Now, we teach our young women that they can become anything they desire to be and do anything they set their minds to do. As you make your way, it is my hope that you appreciate all the opportunities you have today and that you take your seat at the community leadership table. Say yes – to going to college, to traveling abroad, to running for office, to starting a new business, to falling in love and raising a family, to anything that will make you happy and fulfilled. When barriers arise, remember that you are a Girl Scout. You have the courage, the confidence, and the character to tackle anything. You are prepared to change the world and we cannot wait to see what your future holds.
