The field survey was conducted during the year 2010-2012 to access the present status of this unique plant based craft as well as the condition of the artisans involved in this craft making. Data were collected through interview with elderly artisans of the area of study. The result revealed that making artifacts from Bena is exclusively the hand work of female folk belonging to SC (Scheduled caste) and ST (Scheduled tribe) communities. Most of these artisans are either daily wage labourers or marginal farmers while making such craft is their secondary occupation. They collect the raw material, i.e. Bena stem from the nearby field, process it and make around two hundred varieties of attractive craft items both for traditional use in socio-religious rituals and as modern life style accessories. These artifacts are appreciated for their intricate design and glazing golden yellow colour. The existing conditions of this folk craft as well as the artisans were analysed.

  • Natural Coco Mat Install Instructions
CS National Accounts 4005 Royal Drive, Suite 100 | Kennesaw, GA 30144 888-424-6287 | www.c-sgroup.com Natural Coco Mat Install Instructions Characteristics Coir (coconut fiber) yarns are utilized in the manufacture of coco entrance mats and entrance floor coverings because of their excellent characteristic as pile material. It is a reasonably stiff fiber which makes it a good “scrub brush” for shoes, yet it is tough and resilient enough to resist wear or permanent “matting down” from heavy use. The deep pile construction traps and holds scrubbed off dirt particles in considerable volume under the walking surface. The trapped dirt cannot be picked up again by foot traffic as is the case of thin piled carpet type mats where the dirt is still on top, available for pickup by shoes. Coir is a highly absorbent natural fiber. It has extremely high rot resistance and will not rot when used as entrance mat material. It is one of the few materials used in entrance floor mats which have the advantageous characteristics of picking up and holding large volumes of moisture from shoes and not being damaged by these high moisture conditions. The main reason we recommend placing coco mats in a weather-protected area is to best utilize these important features. With all of these excellent characteristics there are some properties of coco mats, which should be taken into consideration when planning for certain installations. Moisture As stated in our advertising literature, coco mats do have an expansion factor under certain moisture conditions. In some cases significant moisture may cause minor bubbling of the surface.

  • Legendary Pioneers of Black Radio Gilbert A
LEGENDARY PIONEERS OF BLACK RADIO GILBERT A. WILLIAMS After World War II, when thousands of African Americans left farms, plantations, and asouthern way of life to migrate north, African Amer- ican disc jockeys helped them make the transition to the urban life by playing familiar music and giving them tips on how to function in northern cities. These disc jockeys became cultural heroes and had a major role in the development of American broadcasting. This collec- tion of interviews documents the personalities of the pioneers of Black radio, as well as their per- sonal struggles and successes. The interviewees also define their roles in the civil rights movement and relate how their efforts have had an impact on how African Americans are portrayed over the air. Industry Leader in Vehicle Accessories Distributor Catalog What Matters to You ? Today, America needs fresh leadership to lead us as a nation out of this economic crisis. Leadership must come not only from our political leaders but also from the average citizen. The exporting of American jobs is a trend that must be stopped and reversed. When I walk into my local hardware store, I typically find 85% of the goods for sale are manufactured 7,000 miles away. To these ruthless buyers, it is all about the money. Rarely are product quality, the political system, human rights, animal rights and environmental costs to the planet considered, not to mention the cost to our society of exporting not only jobs, but an entire factory! At MacNeil Automotive, we are doing our part for the American economy and for our 300 million fellow citizens and neighbors. My philosophy is that if my neighbor doesn’t have a job, sooner or later I won’t have a job either. For example, we used to have our All-Weather Floor Mats manufactured in England by a company that used antiquated, inefficient equipment. They made a decent floor mat for us, but we thought we could build a better floor mat for our customers using modern American technology, American raw materials and skilled American workers. So in 2007 we transferred all of our floor mat manufacturing back to the United States. Today, we build the best fitting, highest quality automotive floor mats in the world, right here in America.
