Return to childhoodBy maxwell-hansenWho can resist Charlie Brown? I'm not sure I would want to meet anyone who could? Great buy for anyone with a Birthday!By Alison HartlessI purchased this for my mom for her birthday because she loves Snoopy. She didn't realize they also share the same birthday. We all loved the book. It's short and fun to pass around. It's filled with funny quotes from many people, not just Schulz. This is a great gift for any Peanuts fan or any adult having a birthday. I say adult because kids won't get all of the jokes. I was completely happy with this purchase.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. I'm happy to own it!By KelleyGreat seller! • The Structural Fragmentation in Zwilich's Millennium Fantasy
The structural fragmentation in Zwilich’s Millennium Fantasy Kheng K. Koay* Abstract This study explores Zwilich’s Millennium Fantasy (2000), which not only exemplifies the nature of Zwilich’s personal creativity, but also reveals different musical influences on the composer. In her music Zwilich employs a variety of techniques to promote different playful impressions and surprises. The continuous playing of tricks on listeners throughout the two movements is one of the musical characters of the piece. In most cases, the sense of fragmentation created in the composition also results from Zwilich’s playful musical construction. In addition, jazz, popular and traditional idioms are nicely and evenly treated in the composition; the composition is not confined to one musical style. This piece might serve as a model of the perfect balance which Zwilich strikes between traditional and popular styles. Keywords 20th century – American music – woman composer – contemporary music – musical analysis – musical style.

Many girls self-identify as tomboys, yet little is known about their experiences. Tomboys deviate from gender stereotypes; they also may be more highly aware of gender status differences. Because tomboys may feel different from others and more keenly feel the lower status of their gender group, they may suffer from lower levels of self-esteem. Yet many tomboys also tend to participate in athletics, an activity that often leads to higher levels of self-esteem. Two studies sought to disentangle the interactive effects of tomboy identification and athleticism on self-esteem. Study 1 sampled 144 female undergraduates and Study 2 sampled 66 girls aged from 8 to 13.

  • Kids' Concerts at Green Center
Kids’ Concerts at Green Center ‘Snoopy and Friends’ kicks off family series at new Weill Hall By Diane Peterson | THE PRESS DEMOCRAT [online Wednesday, October 10, 2012] [Print edition Friday, October 12, 2012] Thousands of children will march, dance and wiggle their way into Weill Hall at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct 14 when the Santa Rosa Symphony kicks off a new three-concert family series at the freshly opened Green Music Center at Sonoma State University. The first concert, “Snoopy and Friends Go to the Orchestra,” offers a wide range of film, cartoon and contemporary music attuned to the ears of young audience members. “This is really aimed at families with children in elementary school,” said Alan Silow, SRS’s executive director. “We didn’t want people to perceive that our presence in the hall is only for the older generation.” The new Sonoma Paradiso Foundation Family Concert Series augments the symphony’s already ambitious education program, which reaches an estimated 20,000 kids a year through its four youth orchestras, summer camps, free concerts and programs in the schools. “We probably have the most comprehensive youth music program for a regional symphony orchestra in the state,” Silow said. “So this is a natural outgrowth of that mission.” The idea for the Family Concert Series took root about four years ago, when the orchestra was strategizing about the opening of the new hall and wanted to carve out their own niche in the programming. The symphony had presented children’s concerts in the past, but never a series. For the past six years, however, the orchestra has offered a summer concert for kids in partnership with Sonoma Paradiso, a foundation started in 2004 to help children in the community.
