National Football Foundation Mission
• Our mission is to promote and develop the power of amateur football in developing the qualities of leadership, sportsmanship, competitive zeal and the drive for academic excellence in America's young people.
History
• A Non-profit organization started in 1947 by Grantland Rice, Earl “Red” Blaik, and General Douglas MacArthur • Each year, in December, select and induct the College Football Hall of Famers and have a banquet at the Waldorf Astoria, New York City in December • Currently has over 12,000 members and 120 chapters nationwide • Current President & CEO, Archie Manning University of Mississippi Quarterback 1969 • College Football Hall of Fame museum resides in South Bend, Indiana moving to Atlanta, Georgia in 2013
Memphis Chapter
• For the past 40 years, have an annual black tie dinner and honor and give scholarships to 11 high school and 2 college football players in the Memphis area based on athletics, academics and community service • Over 500 Scholarships have been given in over 40 years. • Have a golf tournament to promote the College Football Hall of Fame • Membership includes voting on current nominees for induction to the College Football Hall of Fame and free passes to the museum and quarterly newsletters
