Power BI with Power Platform

In this article, I’m going to share with you the use of Power Platform in creating a Power BI Dashboard effectively. We can embed Power Apps into Power BI Dashboard to have the advantages of Writeback (directly send data into backend data sources) to Excel/Azure/SQL Server/SharePoint list and many more from Power BI. And we use Power Automate/Flow to send the data from the Power Apps to Power BI service using the API which has the following abilities:

 to get data variation alerts  for triggering refresh of the dataset(s) in Power BI and  for Power BI Premium Capacity management What is Power Platform?

POWER PLATFORM  Combines the best powerful features of Power Apps, Power BI, and Power Automate into one powerful business application platform

 Analyse, Act and Automate – Using One unified Platform  One application platform for Office 365 and Dynamics 365 There are three products under the Power Platform:

Integration of Power Platform services into Power BI

The above diagram depicts  Once we create reports in Power BI Desktop, publish those reports to Power BI Service to gain the advantage of Power Platform functionalities.  Once we publish Reports to the Power BI service, we can send alerts to users, when there are data changes or doesn’t meet the threshold values.  When an alert is triggered, the responsible person will be notified by sending a customized email and message is also sent.  The user can access a Power BI report that contains an app from Power Apps where they can fix the wrong data value or update the respective columns based on the requirement. The limitations of Power Apps visual:  Editing with Power App option is available only in the Power BI Service not in Power BI Desktop.  The Power Apps visual can't trigger refresh Power BI reports and data sources from within Power BI Desktop immediately, the changes are reflected only on the next scheduled refresh.  We can't use Power Apps visual to filter the data or send any data back to the report. Conclusion: We can Integrate Power Apps, Power BI, and Flow to Create Realtime Streaming Applications.
