The National Board of Education is synonymous with postgraduate Medical Education in the country, for the past 37 years. The NBE has brought in a significant change in the pattern of educating as well as evaluating the postgraduate medical students, in all specialities. ANBAI has been working closely with the NBE to bring about a cohesive working relationship with the NBE. This year, on the 20th of April 2019, ANBAI in Karnataka is organizing the First ever Regional Teachers Day Awards, for senior NBE teachers of the State. This ceremony and function is significant, because we choose to honour the pioneers of teaching in the NBE stream. The first DNB Accredited Institution in the Karnataka was started in 1984. These are the people who made path-breaking changes in the way PG Medical teaching happened, and brought recognition and equivalence to DNB teaching by way of involving the private hospitals in Karnataka. ANBAI conveys its gratitude to all the teachers on this mementos occasion. Helen Caldicott The Association of National Board Accredited Institutions [ANBAI] was formed with the objective of catalysing the energies of various National Board accredited institutions towards encouraging and evolving better teaching programmes and works closely with the National Board of Examinations in its journey towards Quality post graduate medical education in our country. The ANBAI Karnataka Chapter under the able guidance and stewardship of Dr. Venkatesh Krishnamoorthy has done an excellent job in introducing innovative ideas and improving the quality of post graduate medical training in member Institutes. We are happy to note that the ANBAI Karnataka chapter has chosen to identify and acknowledge the yeomen, dedicated, selfless services of DNB teachers who have put in more than 15 years of service. This meeting will also provide an opportunity for all stakeholders to interact and deliberate upon issues to improve and encourage institutions to take up DNB course. We are also happy to note that Dr. Vinod Paul, Chairman Board of Governors, MCI along with Dr. Abhijat Sheth and Dr. Rashmi Kant Dave will be interacting with the delegates on 20th of April 2019. This would be a landmark event, forging a greater relationship between ANBAI and NBE for the betterment of postgraduate medical education in our country.
