Identity Numbers Included in Population Register: Duplicates STAATSKOERANT, 4 NOVEMBER 2013 No. 36986 3 GENERAL NOTICE NOTICE 1080 OF 2013 In terms of Section 7 of the Identification Act, 1997 (Act No. 68 of 1997) the Director-General is empowered to assign only one identity number to each person whose particulars are included in the population register, and should not, in accordance with the Act, assign two or more identity numbers to one person, or assign one identity number to two or more persons. In view of the above, the Department of Home Affairs, through verification checks in the Home Affairs National Identification System ("HANIS") or the National Population Register, has established that the persons, whose particulars appear in the list that is attached to this notice, have either two or more identity numbers assigned to them ("Duplicates") or one identity number assigned to two or more persons. The Department of Home Affairs hereby calls upon all the persons whose names and particulars are mentioned in thelist thatis attached to thisnotice, to at their earliest convenience, and without delay, present themselves to the nearest Home Affairs office for resolution of their Duplicate cases. The resolution of the Duplicates will be affected by way of cancellation of one of the identity numbers, as well as the corresponding identity document, where a person has been assigned two or more identity numbers, or the allocation of an identity number in case of two people assigned with one identity number. In view of the above, pursuant to this notice, the Department intends to invalidate all the identity numbers relating to the duplicate cases mentioned from HANIS/National Population Register, and consequently cancel the corresponding identity numbers in terms of Section 19 of the Identification Act, 1997. The invalidation of identity numbers will be effected upon resolution of each Duplicate case, and the Department intends to have all the Duplicate identity numbers under this category invalidated by the end of December 2013. In view hereof the persons whose names and particulars are contained in the list attached to this notice are encouraged to at their earliest convenience, without delay, present themselves to the nearest Home Affairs office for resolution of their Duplicate cases as contemplated in this notice. • The Development of Appropriate Procedures Towards and After Closure of Underground Gold Mines from a Water Management Perspective
THE DEVELOPMENT OF APPROPRIATE PROCEDURES TOWARDS AND AFTER CLOSURE OF UNDERGROUND GOLD MINES FROM A WATER MANAGEMENT PERSPECTIVE Report to the WATER RESEARCH COMMISSION by W Pulles, S Banister and M van Biljon on hehalf of PULLES HOWARD & DE LANGE INCORPORATED RISON GROUNDWATER CONSULTING cc WRC Report No: 1215/1/05 ISBN No: 1-77005-237-2 MARCH 2005 Disclaimer This report emanates from a project financed by the Water Research Commission (WRC) and is approved for publication. Approval does not signify that the contents necessarily reflect the views and policies of the WRC or the members of the project steering committee, nor does mention of trade names or commercial products constitute endorsement or recommendation for use. i EXECUTIVE SUMMARY A need was identified by the Water Research Commission to undertake research into the issue of mine closure planning from a water management perspective in the South African gold mining industry. Initially a project was conceived that was based on undertaking a more detailed study on the development of a coherent and integrated closure planning process for a case study region – the Klerksdorp-Orkney-Stilfontein-Hartebeestfontein (KOSH) area. This approach was eventually abandoned due to the unwillingness of the gold mines in this region (other than Anglogold) to participate in the project. The project methodology was subsequently modified and approved by the project Steering Committee to rather study the complete South African gold mining industry and develop a closure planning methodology that would have application throughout the industry. In support of such an industry-wide study, an assessment would be undertaken of the current status of closure planning contained within the mine EMPRs.
