Hi
We are now have more detailed formal engagement with public and elected representatives around proposal to relocate Monklands Hospital to Gartcosh.
Our previous discussions have indicated that realigning the Motherwell/Lanark service to Gartcosh (and possibly Glasgow) was a relatively straightforward timetable adjustment rather than a significant infrastructure improvement and that you/Transport Scotland were supportive in principle. I am looking to get something more definitive in place, if that is possible, with yourselves and Transport Scotland around a strategic intention or similar words. Could we discuss this?
Regards
Graham

Hi Graham
I’ve been informally keeping their strategy and planning team in the loop. When you go public they will put the potential relocation into their long term planner so that it’s then formally considered in any maintenance / renewal / operational changes they plan on the routes in question.
As the proposal sits, they are happy to just be kept informed. If we start to need to run loads more trains or build new connecting chords, they’ll have to have a more hands on role.
Does this help?
Best wishes

Hi
Further to our preliminary conversations last year I would advise that further to a public facing option appraisal process Gartcosh has emerged as the highest scoring option for a replacement location for a new hospital. This is now in the public domain.
This now needs to be taken through a public consultation process over the summer before a final decision on our preferred option can be confirmed.
As part of this process I just wanted to be clear in terms of the connectivity available at Gartcosh.
1. We had confirmed that there is an existing service between Glasgow and Cumbernauld which stops at Gartcosh. 2. There is an ability to connect trains on the existing Motherwell/Lanark line although this does not happen at present. 3. There is no option to connect services from existing Coatdyke/Sunnyside/Airdrie stations. 4. Station upgrade, including improved disabled access and facilities, is possible by 2025.
Can you confirm that this is still the case?
Many thanks
Graham
