Goss and Matthew Thompson led the CFISD contingent selected in the 2019 Major League Baseball First- Year Player draft, as the two right-handed pitchers became the highest teammates picked since 2002. Both Goss and Thompson were selected on the first day of the draft. Goss went 36th overall by the Tampa Bay Rays, while Thompson was picked 45th overall by the Chicago White Sox. The duo helped lead Cypress Ranch to the Region II-6A finals a year after the Mustangs reached their third state tournament in program history. They become the first teammates selected this high in the draft since 2002, when Cypress Falls High School graduates and standout pitchers Clint Everts and Scott Kazmir went fifth and 15th overall, respectively. Fellow teammate of Goss and Thompson, Cypress Ranch High School catcher Jared Alvarez-Lopez was also picked as the 503rd overall pick (17th round) by the San Diego Padres.
