INTRODUCTION America’s Got Talent, one of the most famous talent showcases in the world, viewed on T.V. and on the web, in over 146 countries (12 million viewers at any given moment), emailed me a few months ago, that they saw one of our choir performances online and they wanted the New York Boys Choir to perform live on America’s Got Talent for the duration of a year. At first I thougt it was a joke. This must be a spam email message. NYBC...... an orthodox Jewish choir, to perform in front of the world, and to be viewed by millions of people live, on many consecutive AGT shows, and over a period of a year’s time. When I called the phone number, I realized it wasn’t a joke. Carter Palmer, the recruiter for AGT was dead serious. She saw us online and wanted us, a frum orthodox choir, to join AGT, and inspire the world.....There was one catch...we needed to perform clean cut secular songs like (you fill in the blank)! I said, “Carter, we are an Orthodox Jewish choir. I don’t see the parents, or the schools that they are coming from, going for the idea of their children singing secular songs, on live T.V. and the web.
