Under Armour and Three-Time Super Bowl Champion Tom Brady Form Multi-Year Partnership Signing of Future Hall of Fame Quarterback Elevates Under Armour's NFL Roster, Re-asserts Brand's Dominance in Football Baltimore, MD (November 8, 2010) - Under Armour (NYSE:UA), the Baltimore, MD-based leader in sports performance apparel, footwear and accessories, announced today a multi-year partnership with three-time Super Bowl champion and NFL Most Valuable Player, Tom Brady. The owner of multiple NFL records and one of the winningest quarterbacks of all time, Brady is the highest profile team sport athlete to join the Under Armour family. As the newest member of the Under Armour team, Brady will appear in various in-store and advertising promotional campaigns. Brady bolsters a formidable offensive line-up for Under Armour, who also reached agreements earlier this season with Pro-Bowl wide receivers Miles Austin and Anquan Boldin. Brady will be wearing Under Armour apparel and footwear for training and will also be debuting a new customized Under Armour Fierce cleat in games in the near future. JAY CHIAT AWARDS 2015 SUMMARY This is the story of how Under Armour turned their uber-masculine sportswear brand into a symbol of female athletic aspiration. We set out to solve a critical business problem—how does Under Armour win over a massive new target that outright rejects the brand? It started with a truth about how their new target approaches fitness, then evolved into a big cultural insight about what it means to be a woman in the twenty-first century. This translated into a creative idea that connected Under Armour’s strong performance values to the true stories of women today achieving success on their own terms. The campaign put the brand at the heart of a cultural conversation, achieving a complete turnaround in connecting with their new target and an astonishing 28-percent sales increase. Even more, the campaign became a rallying cry that women everywhere could truly call their own. The nearly 100-year-old brand’s iconic embroidered “C” logo is hotter than ever, showing up on countless celebrities and social media infuencers including Kylie Jenner and Kim Kardashian. Now Champion is looking to leverage that momentum to conquer the shoe scene. The label, a division of HanesBrands Inc., has partnered with Boca Raton, Fla.-based BBC International to launch a premium footwear program for the whole family. Lyle Halliday u5366214 Improving Rock Climbing Safety using a Systems Engineering Approach ENGN2225- Systems Engineering and Design, Portfolio Abstract This portfolio outlines an application of Systems Engineering methods to the sport of Rock climbing. The report outlines an organized, logical analysis of the system that is involved in making this sport safe and aims to improve the system as a whole through this analysis. Steps taken include system scoping, requirements engineering, system function definition, subsystem integration and system attributes which contribute toward a final concept. Two recommendations are made, one being a bouldering mat which incorporates the transportation of other equipment, the other being complete, standardised bolting protocols. These concepts are then verified against the design criteria and evaluated. 1.0 System scoping: A systematic way of establishing the boundaries of the project and focusing the design problem to an attainable goal. The project focuses on Lead Climbing. 2.0 Requirements engineering: Establishing the true requirements of climbers, and what they search for in a climbing safety system 2.1 Pairwise Analysis: Establishing safety, ease of use and durability as primary design goals 2.2 Design Requirements and Technical Performance Measures: Specifying the design requirements into attainable engineering parameters. 2.3 House of Quality: Identifying the trade-offs between safety and functionality/ cost and the need for a whole-of-systems approach to the problem, rather than a component approach. 3.0 System Function Definition: Establishing concepts and system processes. 3.1 Concept Generation and Classification: Identifying possible and existing solutions on a component level and taking these to a subsystem level. -

Climbing has injected new life into the island’s economy and mitigated the effects of the Greek economic crisis. A significant social shift is occurring as locals embrace climbing tourism, though there is still not a great degree of integration between climbers and locals. While climbers have relatively low environmental impact, environmental practices throughout Kalymnos need to be improved to preserve the island. -
