RCAC MEMBER AIRPORT PROFILE: Oshawa Executive Airport (CYOO), ON Welcome to the Oshawa Executive Airport, your aviation gateway to the City of Oshawa and the Greater Toronto Area. Situated on 484 acres of land, this executive level regional airport features: JJul • a modern terminal building capable of facilitating corporate • business travel and general aviation • dual runways able to service a broad range of aircraft • modern navigational aids including RNAV (GNSS), LNAV and LPV approaches • on site Canada Border Service Agency (CBSA) - Canada Customs • control tower • a variety of aviation services such as fuel, FBO, maintenance and logistical support • over 300,000 square feet of hangar space, includingJj privately owned hangarminiums The Airport is conveniently located within a short distance to other major transportation modes including CN/CP Rail, VIA Rail, GO Transit, Highway 401 and Highway 407. Flight training, air ambulance, passenger charter services, freight services, aerial police operations, aircraft maintenance and aircraft restoration services are all provided at the airport. The Oshawa Airport is open 7 days a week, 365 days of the year; however, flight restrictions are in place from 10:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. limiting flights to police, medical and industrial flights and Oshawa-based aircraft returning to the airport. Whether you are flying to Oshawa as a destination, making it a stopover on your journey, or doing business here, you will find the friendly and knowledgeable staff and service providers at the airport on hand to assist you. In 2008, the City undertook a comprehensive process to create a new Airport Business Plan that examined a number of key areas including: • economic impact study • airport property development • commitment to operate the airport • noise and traffic management • marketing • financial plan • capital forecast A number of key recommendations came out of the business plan including the ability to sell lots for aviation purposes and City Council's commitment to operate the airport to not less than 2033 regardless of whether the Pickering Airport is built. Under the City's Operating and Options Agreement with the federal government, the City is required to operate the airport until 2047 or until the Pickering Airport is built. The recommendation passed by Council in 2008 insures the businesses that are currently at the airport and future businesses that the airport will remain open. The Oshawa Executive Airport prides itself on a progressive "Good Community Neighbour" policy as we seek to find the balance between the essential service that the airport provides and the sensitivity to aircraft noise. A great example of this can be found in Night Operational Limitations, which allows essential flights like police, medical and industrial emergencies while limiting non-essential flights. The Airport Advisory Committee plays an important role in the process and consists of members from the community and aviation users to provide a balanced perspective.
