Adama Mickiewicza w Poznaniu When it comes to games, dice belong to the oldest playthings or gambling instruments men have used to pass their time and/or make some money, and it is striking that still today it is hard to imagine the realm of board and table games1 without them. Dominions fell, Caesars were overthrown, however, the die is still rolling – but is it also still ruling? Trying to answer this question, we approach the topic from two angles, analysing !rst the historical and then the current situation. In the !rst part the authors would like to give a quick retrospection into the history of the die to highlight a few outstanding facts about dice and gambling in their sociocultural context. "e second part then will discuss the cur- rent situation on the German board game market from a more technical and functional point of view: how dice are being integrated into board and table games, and how the out- come is being received. To narrow down the !eld we will concentrate on this speci!c range and leave out dice in casino games as well as in RPGs. "e focus on German board games is due to the fact that they constitute one of the biggest board game markets worldwide and therefore provides a lot of material for the analysis, which at the same time does not exclude games from other countries. -

My goal this year was to make Game Storm bigger and better than previous years. I hope we have accomplished this. We have a great Guest of Honor in Richard Garfield. I look forward to his visit to Portland. I would like to thank the committee for the many hours of work it took to make the convention happen. I feel blessed to be working with all of you. This convention could not have happened without each and every one of you. Note: Remember, this convention is run on volunteer power, and we can use all the help we can get. An Introduction To The KODT Articles Catalog (Issues #1 - #125) This catalog sprang from my desire to find my favorite KODT articles by a means other than opening random issues and hoping to strike pay dirt. It was initially just going to be a reference to the gaming material in the Game Master’s Workshop and Player’s Advantage sections. Jason Zavoda and others had already compiled thorough lists of some of the other regular departments (available in the Forums Area of the Kenzerco website) and I didn’t think there was a need to improve on them. But as I cracked open issue #1, I thought, heck if I’m going to go through every issue, I might as well be comprehensive. Had I know then that this list would run to around two thousand entries I’d have stuck with my original plan. I really should have taken a closer look at all those fat issues late in the run. So what does this catalog include? Just about everything except the actual KODT strips, Cries from the Attic, Table Talk, One-Two Punches, Back Room at the Games Pit, Game Vine, News and Parting Shots. Oh and Ads. I don’t do Ads. Why didn’t I include all that? Because I do have a life, and this catalog needed to be of somewhat reasonable length to remain useful. Which brings me to how this catalog is organized. I decided early on it would be a waste of time trying to do this alphabetically by title or author. -

Gregg Shaw, 67, was reported missing on Christmas Day somewhere between his home at Papamoa and Gisborne. Mr Shaw left the home he shares with younger brother Michael on Christmas morning, intending to have lunch with family in Gisborne. They raised the alarm when he failed to arrive. Police made an appeal for information on social media and his family set off to look for him. They paid for a helicopter to search through the Waioeka Gorge but to no avail. Mr Shaw was eventually found in his crashed car at around 4pm on Sunday afternoon at a spot between Cemetery Road and Rakauroa Road, the Matawai side of Otoko Hill. “His car had gone off the road and down a five-metre steep bank into a drain, landing on its wheels, but firmly wedged against the sides of the drain,” said Te Karaka deputy chief fire officer Murray Burgess. “He was trapped in the car because he couldn’t open the doors. -
