U. S. Sports-Related Beer Cans 1950 Through 2005 U. S. Sports-Related Beer Cans 1950 through 2005 A Complete Checklist and Price Guide by Bruce Remick BCCA #7549 Introduction This reference offers collectors of beer cans and sports memorabilia a comprehensive checklist and price guide for all beer cans produced in the U.S. with sports-related designs since the 1950’s. The checklist features cans that salute specific pro, college, and amateur teams, sports events, and sports personalities. Also listed are cans that depict less popular sports and cans that include sports themes in their design. Some cans were produced by U.S. can companies and were exported to foreign countries. Some were not really beer cans at all, but were produced as banks or mugs and given away at a local sports event. They look like beer cans so I chose to list them. The checklist is organized by sport. Cans are grouped alphabetically by brewery within each sport category, and are listed in the approximate order of their issue. For photos of individual cans, appropriate book references are provided. Beer Can Collectors of America® (BCCA) News Report issues are referenced as a source of photos for post-1988 cans. Many minor differences in printing, government warning information, and color are mentioned, but not all of these differences have been listed as separate varieties. Price ranges in this checklist indicate the approximate value of each can among can collectors who specialize in sports cans. These prices are for cans in “new” condition, and a $1 minimum value is used. As with any collectible, the prices here aren’t etched in stone, and a can’s actual value always remains the opinion of its owner or buyer. But, used as a general guide, these prices indicate which cans have premium values relative to more common ones. A can’s age, regional availability, subject matter, and collector demand are among factors that play a role in what it might sell for in various parts of the country. District likely to ask for extension to meet standard BY STACEY SHEPARD, Californian staff writer Bakersfield Californian, Monday, Jan. 29, 2007 Valley air regulators will likely ask for a delay in meeting a federal air standard today. That's when the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District will release its latest draft plan for cleaning up ozone, the main ingredient in smog. The current deadline for reducing ozone to levels mandated by the federal government is 2013. "We really have a problem here that no one else in the country has to face," said Brenda Turner, a spokeswoman for the district. Ozone is created when nitrogen oxides -- emitted from vehicle tailpipes, factories and construction equipment -- react with sunlight. Increased ozone is known to aggravate lung disorders. Ozone tends to become trapped here because of the valley's shape, stagnant air and hot temperatures. To make the 2013 deadline, the valley must cut emissions by nearly 70 percent. To do that, the last version of the cleanup plan, released by the district in October, estimated it would take 7.5 billion in taxpayer dollars to fund incentive programs. Even if money weren't an issue, the district doesn't believe the technology is available yet to make the needed reductions by 2013, Turner said. That's why more time seems to be the only alternative. Potentially, the deadline could be extended out by 10 years to 2023. Doing so would drop the price to fund incentive programs to about $2 billion or less, air district officials have said. The state Air Resources Board decides whether to grant an extension.

Cities across the cotintry compete for the right to host this prestigious event. The reputation of such an occasion has caused an increase in demand and price for tickets, making attendance nearly impossible for the average fan. As a result, the National Football League has implemented free events for local residents and out-of-town visitors. This, along with broadcasting the game, creates an inclusive environment for all fans, leaving a lasting legacy in the world of professional sports. This paper explores the growth of the Super Bowl from a novelty game to one of the country' s most popular professional sporting events. Acknowledgements First, and foremost, I would like to thank my parents for their unending support. Thank you for allowing me to try new things and learn from my mistakes. Most importantly, thank you for believing that I have the ability to achieve anything I desire. Second, I would like to thank my brother for being an incredible role model.

  • Super Bowl Xlv on Fox Is Most-Watched Program in Tv History
SUPER BOWL XLV ON FOX IS MOST-WATCHED PROGRAM IN TV HISTORY Game Obliterates Prior Record; Sets Super Bowl Mark for Fourth Straight Year Prime Time Audience Exceeds 100 Million for First Time Irving, TX – History was made last night on FOX when Super Bowl XLV became the most- watched U.S. television program ever, and FOX became the first network ever to exceed 100 million viewers (100.9 million) for a night in prime time, according to fast-national ratings released today by Nielsen Media Research. The game, the outcome of which was in doubt until the final seconds, saw the Green Bay Packers defeat the Pittsburgh Steelers 31-25 to capture the franchise’s fourth Super Bowl Championship. FOX Sports’ broadcast of Super Bowl XLV averaged 111 million viewers and is the most- watched television program in U.S. history, obliterating the prior record of 106.5 set last year during Super Bowl XLIV by 4.5 million viewers and the 106.0 million for the series finale of M*A*S*H, which held the viewership record from 1983 to 2010. This is the fourth consecutive Super Bowl to set a viewership record, and attracted 13.5 million more viewers than FOX’s last Super Bowl broadcast in 2008 (97.5 million) for the New York Giants upset of the undefeated New England Patriots. No other major sporting event has ever hit a record high in four consecutive years. This also marks the sixth straight year that Super Bowl viewership has increased, and over that span average Super Bowl viewership has increased from 86.1 million in 2005 to 111.0 million, a gain of nearly 25 million viewers.
