Covid-19 Community Groups Directory COVID-19 COMMUNITY GROUPS DIRECTORY updated 11 May 2021 1 DM21_021 ONLINE INTRODUCTION The communities of Wiltshire have risen to the challenge of COVID-19 to make sure people are supported through this very difficult time. The council has collated all the community groups we have identified so far so that those who need support for themselves or a loved one can make direct contact. In the time available we have only been able to collate this directory and therefore this is not an endorsement of the groups listed but it is for you to decide what use you will make of the offers of support at this time. If anyone uses a community group and has concerns about the response/practice please inform us by emailing [email protected] giving the clear reasons for your concern. The council wants to ensure that everybody can access the support they need. If you make contact with a group and they cannot help or you do not get a response within the required timeframe, then please do not hesitate to contact the council by emailing [email protected] and we will ensure you get the support you need. FOOD BANKS At this difficult time, food banks are in need of more volunteers and donations. If you are able to help in any way please get in touch with your local food bank. Food banks are there to support vulnerable people in a crisis, which is usually subject to a referral from a trusted source such as a social worker.     Addendum to School Places Strategy 2017-2022 – Explanation of the differences between Wiltshire Community Areas and Wiltshire School Planning Areas This document should be read in conjunction with the School Places Strategy 2017 – 2022 and provides an explanation of the differences between the Wiltshire Community Areas served by the Area Boards and the School Planning Areas. The Strategy is primarily a school place planning tool which, by necessity, is written from the perspective of the School Planning Areas. A School Planning Area (SPA) is defined as the area(s) served by a Secondary School and therefore includes all primary schools in the towns and surrounding villages which feed into that secondary school. As these areas can differ from the community areas, this addendum is a reference tool to aid interested parties from the Community Area/Area Board to define which SPA includes the schools covered by their Community Area. It is therefore written from the Community Area standpoint. Amesbury The Amesbury Community Area and Area Board covers Amesbury town and surrounding parishes of Tilshead, Orcheston, Shrewton, Figheldean, Netheravon, Enford, Durrington (including Larkhill), Milston, Bulford, Cholderton, Wilsford & Lake, The Woodfords and Great Durnford. It encompasses the secondary schools The Stonehenge School in Amesbury and Avon Valley College in Durrington and includes primary schools which feed into secondary provision in the Community Areas of Durrington, Lavington and Salisbury. However, the School Planning Area (SPA) is based on the area(s) served by the Secondary Schools and covers schools in the towns and surrounding villages which feed into either The Stonehenge School in Amesbury or Avon Valley College in Durrington.

Parish Summary The parish of Sutton Benger is in Chippenham Community Area within the local authority area of Wiltshire. • There is a population of 1,057 according to the 2011 Census, comprised of 415 households.1 • The parish of Sutton Benger stretches from the hamlet of Draycot Cerne in the west, through the village of Sutton Benger to the River Avon in the east, and from the Stanton Household Recycling Centre & Chippenham Pit Stop in the north, to the National Trust's sites of Special Scientific Interest and County Wildlife in the south. • The medieval village layout of a High Street and parallel Back Lane (now Chestnut Road) and a staggered cross roads beside the 13th Century Parish Church, All Saints, formed by Seagry Road and Bell Lane is still clearly visible, even with the addition of a large housing estate that doubled the size of the village in the 1970s. A further 25% increase in housing stock (85 homes) is currently being constructed upon the previous 'chicken factory' site. With another 41 houses awaiting planning application decisions, the size of the village is set to increase further. • The village straddles the B4069 (Chippenham to Lyneham road) and is in close proximity to junction 17 of the M4, giving easy access to Swindon, Bath and Bristol, as well as benefitting from the more local amenities either in Chippenham to the south west or Malmesbury in the north.

Best small village is Chitterne, which saw off competition from Beanacre, Bishopstrow and Boreham, Brokerswood, Coulston and Great Hinton. Chairman of Chitterne Parish Council, Jeremy Reid said: "We are absolutely delighted. The people who work voluntarily are the ones who made it possible." Chitterne was the only village of the three not to have received the same accolade two years running. The last time they won was in 1997. Cllr Reid said: "We listened to the judges last time and we have made some improvements. "We changed the position of the notice board and we did restoration work on the recreation ground." The three winners will now go through to the county final, which will be judged later this summer. Chairman of Sutton Veny Parish Council, Tony Henthorne said: "We have a core group of people who have helped and they did a sterling job of cleaning the village and making it tidy. "We are looking forward to the next round of the competition and hopefully we will have better luck than we did last year." Clerk of Bratton Parish Council, Anita Whittle said: "We are very pleased.
