Perth Amboy, Past, Present and Future: A Photography and Digital Art Project by The Students of Perth Amboy High School, In Cooperation with The Perth Amboy Public Library Press Release PERTH AMBOY - The students in Ms. Bautista’s photography classes traveled all over the city to recreate pictures of Perth Amboy’s historical landmarks, using images from the Perth Amboy Public Library archives as our only guide. This exhibi- tion juxtaposes the historical photographs next to the modern ones. The digital art students and Communications Academy students in Mrs. Wintemberg’s classes took a different - ap proach. First, we learned how to use Photoshop to profession- ally colorize the public library’s historical black and white pho- tographs. Next, we imagined going back in time and added ourselves to vintage images, a project we called ‘Time Machine’. Take a close look at the ‘Time Ma- chine’ photographs and see if you can tell who doesn’t be- long. Finally, we envisioned what the city might look like in the future and created compos- ite images for a project called ‘Perth Amboy, Past Present and Future.’ Many thanks, from the stu- dents and staff of Perth Amboy High School, for the generos- ity of the Perth Amboy Public Library and SGO Museum, for your assistance and support as we examine our past and envi- sion our future. Looking through the camera lens of photographers and his- torians long gone, gave us rare insight into our roots and in- spired a new appreciation of the importance of preserving and protecting our beautiful city by the bay. Create a Scorecard That Works An effective scorecard gives you a holistic view of the state of your business in one report. In Lyme Bay, near Slapton, England, Exercise Tiger continues on April 28, 1944; the second day of the exercise is again marked by tragedy (somewhere around 450 U.S. soldiers and sailors were killed in a live-fire accident the previous day). A convoy of eight LSTs carrying vehicles and combat engineers is attacked by nine heavily armed German E-Boats (fast-attack boats, larger and more-powerful than American PT boats) that have slipped undetected through Allied security patrols. Four of the landing craft are damaged or sunk, costing the lives of another 423 U.S. Army and Navy servicemen, with 200 more wounded. Because of official embarrassment and concerns over security for the actual invasion, all survivors of Exercise Tiger are sworn to secrecy, and details of the dual tragedies are kept quiet.
