Fury FC produced an inspiring performance Saturday night against the Tampa Bay Rowdies scoring a vital point in the middle of this road trip, with the final stop coming Wednesday night at Nippert Stadium against FC Cincinnati who, like Ottawa, are also in a dog fight for a post-season berth. Ottawa scored early and out shot its opponent for a third-straight match, and will now travel to Cincinnati as a confident bunch, eager to get Julian de Guzman his first win as head coach. While their success in the US Open Cup led them to the semifinals before being defeated by the New York Red Bulls last week, FC Cincinnati have struggled recently in USL action as they are winless in their last four (0W-1D-3L) and have been outscored 14-4. When playing at home however, Cincinnati has a massive advantage – its fans. Soccer at Nippert Stadium has hit fever pitch as the club owns the league’s best average attendance – 20,465 this season. So expect a raucous environment on Wednesday night with both teams fighting for their playoff lives. Fury FC have produced over 80 shots in their last five games, but they will require improved precision in front of goal and capitalize on their chances against a side that is shaky at the moment, having allowed nine goals in its last two games. A good start will be vital for Ottawa who can pull level on points with both Cincinnati and New York holding a pair of games in hand on both clubs to boot … and New York is Ottawa’s next opponent on Sunday afternoon back at TD Place. It will be playoff-like soccer for the next couple of months and it all begins Wednesday night in Cincinnati. WHAT THEY’RE SAYING: Fury FC GM and Head Coach, Julian de Guzman: “This is our biggest game of the season. A great time to prove that we are playoff material. Points on the road are one way to prove it and after what happened on Saturday, we felt we deserved more. It's going to be tough and we don't expect anything less. A great time to suffer for the badge. “As long as we go out there and be ourselves, nothing will get in the way. I trust each and one of my soldiers will honour a wonderful moment they're about to experience. Only because they stay true to themselves and to one another.” Fury FC Midfielder, Sergio Manesio: “We are excited for the game and ready for them.
