PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE This week, the Budget and Finance committee wrapped up its review and is moving forward with a plan to streamline these critical functions. The Member Services study group completed their review today. Along with the IT study, we are on track for our June 30 design deadline. Next, draft of a workplan to implement design recommendations. Improved financial reporting and governance. Enhanced member services at a transactional level. Centralized procurement. And centralized programming coordination resulting in faster conversion of concepts into approved, budgeted and scheduled events. Completion: end of summer 2020. We’re seeing increased numbers in our daily minyan. Alan Jaff has worked hard to get our security protocol in sync with COVID protocols. We need more security volunteers. Please step up. Below, my son Zachary with roommate Tani Rosenzweig outside their lone soldier apartment at Yeshiva LevHatorah. Zach is in training in the Kfir infantry brigade. Tani is active duty combat engineering. That shiny new BBQ? Donated by BAYT members Mitch and Paula Silverstein, Ken and Faye Stollon, Craig and Esther Guttmann, Paul and Sari Weinberger, Marvin and Roberta Newman, Tomi and Zippy Zwiebel, Aaron and Anita Ames, David and Shari Vodianoi, Rabbi and Rebbetzin Korobkin, Jeremy Magence, Zevi and Aura Rosenzweig, Arthur and Marcee Rosenzweig and yours truly and my wife Annette. From my request for support to delivery in under five days. Thank you for supporting our boys. Special thanks to Ernest and Aviva Segal for picking up and delivering the BBQ.

Shabbat Shalom and Yom Canada Sameach, Eh!

BAYT SISTERHOOD Thank you to our supporters who ordered lawn signs, masks and filters. We have placed our order with the companies who will be making the items. Please note that we have only pur- chased what was ordered. There will be no extras, and that is why they are not available for pick up right now. We anticipate the order to be delivered in approximately 2.5 weeks. Once the masks have been received an email will be sent with a date and time to be picked up. If you are unable to pick up, please contact us at baysister- [email protected] and we will arrange to have your mask delivered to you. Lawn signs will be put on your lawns once they have been received. Again, I thank you for your ongoing support of the BAYT Sisterhood and looking forward to seeing you all again soon. -Aliza ANNOUNCEMENTS

REOPENING UPDATE:

Baruch Hashem, we will be reopening our building this Shabbos for davening for the first time in over three months. That said, we are proceeding with extreme caution, and have decided to decelerate the pace of our reopening slightly. This Shabbos, our Friday night ser- vice will be in the Chuppah Garden. On Shabbos morning, there will be two minyanim, each taking approx. 80 minutes MAX. Both min- yanim will be indoors, in the Rebbetzin Judy Taub Hall, which has been set up, with ample social distancing, to accommodate 50 people, 40 men and 10 women. The first minyan will begin "Shochen Ad" at 7 am, and the second minyan will begin "Shochen Ad" at 9 am. Each seat and surface will be thoroughly cleaned with disinfectant cleaner before each minyan.

We ask you to please register for these minyanim, so that we can ensure a minyan and prevent overflow traffic. We now have a new reg- istration system, using the "Sign Up Genius" app. Please click HERE, and you can decide for the entire week which services you'd like to participate in.

On Shabbos afternoon, there will again be one service inside at 8:45 pm, where we will daven Mincha and Maariv back-to-back to minimize our time together. Everyone should eat Shalosh Seudos at home before coming to shul.

On Sunday, there will be THREE minyanim for Shacharis: 7 am indoors, 8 am outdoors, and 9 am indoors. Please register for your pre- ferred minyan using the above link.

Monday-Friday of next week, we will have two daily minyanim for Shacharis: 6:30 am indoors, and 8:30 am outdoors. Please register using the above link.

Please join the BAYT Minyan Update WhatsApp Group, HERE, to get updates regarding minyanim, inclement weather, and other changes to schedule.

I emphasize that for the time being, it is still considered a "l'chatchila" and totally acceptable to continue davening b'yechidus, without a minyan. No one should in any way feel pressured or halakhically compelled to daven with a minyan at the present time.

All our Zoom minyanim will be broadcast from the shul, so you will be able to join virtually and answer to Kadish and Kedusha. We are also now Zooming our Shacharis minyanim. Wishing you a great day and a great week, Rabbi Daniel Korobkin.

Weekly Halachah - R’ Mordechai Torczyner – [email protected] May I walk in front of someone who is reciting Kaddish?

One may not walk in front of someone who is reciting the Amidah, because of the presence of the Shechinah and because walking there could distract the person who is davening. Some also prohibit walking in front of someone who is reciting Shema, or at least its opening sentence.

Some authorities extend this to walking in front of someone who is reciting Kaddish, at least for the first part (ending “da’amiran b’alma v’imru amen”).

Of course, due to social distancing, at this time one may not walk immediately in front of someone who is reciting any part of davening.

(Shaarei Teshuvah Orach Chaim 56:1; Kaf haChaim 55:9; Mishneh Berurah 102:15; Biur Halachah 102 “Assur”; Ishei Yisrael 15 (76), 29 (32))

We would like to invite Members to a drive-by Birthday Greeting for Mrs. Violet Mittelmann’s 97th Birthday this coming Sunday, June 28th between the time of 5:00 and 6:00PM. Weekly Parsha by Rabbi Spitz

Parshas Korach is about Moshe and Aharon’s first cousin, Korach, who is jealous of the leadership positions of Moshe and Aharon. Korach convinces 250 people to join his rebellion. Hashem performs a miracle to show that Korach is wrong; the earth opens up and swallows Korach, along with the 250 people who joined his rebellion. Hashem also performs another miracle to prove that Aharon is the Kohen Gadol that He has chosen. Aharon’s stick, which he would carry with him at all times, miraculously starts to grow almonds.
