授業の目標(Course Objectives) To consider the relationship between literature and society by making a study of personal identity and social values through dystopian 授業の内容(Course Contents) This course examines the questions, "What is a person?" and "What is the future of humanity?" through study and analysis of science fiction literature about humans and machines, from the 19th century to the present. The course will examine how futuristic conceptions of artificial intelligence reflect contemporary concerns: How is technology transforming human society? What is the impact of modernity on social organization, individual human rights, and political hierarchies? In what ways do visions of the future explore human needs, commitments, and crises of the present? By studying "the future," we learn what we value most as social beings in the past and the present. 授業計画(Course Schedule) 1. Introduction to course themes 2. Discussion: determining the future 3.
