Torrontés is Argentina's unique white grape and has become their signature producing grape. Floral and citrus in the bouquet, this dry white wine has a rich texture, almost creamy, with hints of oranges and grapefruit on the palate. It finishes with refreshing acidity. I can’t think of a better thirst quencher for hot weather. It would be delicious Asian cuisine as well as fish or chicken. Zolo makes one of the best examples of this wine. Though the 2013 has not yet been reviewed (as of this writing) here are some reviews of recent past :

"Satisfying and sophisticated, with lovely fruit and admirable restraint.” -The Wall Street Journal

Wine Enthusiast rated the '09, '10 & '11 a “Best Buy”!

Domaine de Begrolles Muscadet Sevre et Maine Sur Lie 2012 Green’s Cash Sale Price: This is our second “Official Wine of Summer.” Muscadet is one of the great white wine values of France. From the Valley, this wine saw its heyday in the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s, but its popularity has waned over the last decade. This is partly because some newbies confuse it with . Nothing could be further from the truth. It is bone dry. Sourced from Muscadet’s finest wine producing district, Sevre et Maine, the term “Sur Lie” on the label refers to a technique where the wine is left to age over dead yeast cells () until mid-March after the . This process imparts a richer, rounder mouth feel and more complex flavors. The grape variety used to make this wine, , is rarely seen elsewhere.

It’s the perfect warm weather wine. Good rich fruit and a judicious touch of acidity that works its balancing act here just as acidity makes lemonade refreshing. If there was a picture of a “crisp” wine in an encyclopedia, it would be Muscadet.

It is the perfect shellfish wine. Good with mussels, shrimp, and scallops, there is no better match for oysters than Muscadet. It’s also a great aperitif to drink alone.
