On July 20, the South Carolina Motor Maids motorcycle group, under the leadership of Krissa Drentlaw of Summerville, hosted a fund-raising ride for Lamar area schools. The route ended at Cartersville Winery in Timmonsville. The Lamar Fire Department escorted the riders through town. The event raised more than $1,400, “with many boxes of supplies and pledges of more to come.” Town officials also thanked the Gallant Warriors of Darlington and the S.C.
