Capitalization CAPITALIZATION Here we go with proper nouns (names, places, and, possibly, further descriptors,) from all 38 + 190 books in the series. Well, actually I expanded it to all non lowercase words except for those that start off a sentence. So, pretty much everything. Keep in mind that word phrases are subject to personal interpretation. Where I think California Gray Whale should appear as one phrase, I suppose others could argue that it should count as two or three entries. I also tended to combine plurals and possessives (Indians / Indian’s / Indians’) with their singular counterparts (Indian) unless I thought there was a good reason not to do so. I’m not distinguishing between different characters, just different names. There’s a bunch of fellows, good and bad, named Sam running around the series. Our dark haired hero will appear as Frank , Frank Hardy , Mr. Frank Hardy , etc. Another example would be that there are both boats and people named “Annie”. An entry is in italics only when every occurrence through all volumes is in italics . Same deal on bold . Volumes #1 through #38 are followed by an ‘o’ for original text and/or an ‘r’ for revised text. There’s no Zoobilly Boys in here. Or is there? ‘23 6o ’30s 135 ’32 108 ’44 68 ’51 108 ’60s 91 ’67 162 ’69 162 ’90s 165 ’98 20o ‘Bats’ Belfree 87 ‘Detective’ Smuff 3r ‘Jerry the Character’ Slocomb 32o ’Nam 162 ’Sconset 145 ‘Whitey’ Waulker 67 “Biff” 1o c 1 / Capitalization CAPITALIZATION “Biff” Hooper 2o, 3o “Colonel” Deputy Wilson 83 “Maximum Challenge” Champion 132 “Slim” Robinson 4o $ 70, 152 $1 million-dollar 159 $1.00 59 $10,000 75, 127 $100 162 $100,000 17r, 66, 83, 137 $1000 REWARD 1o, 1r $2,500 80 $2.00 67 $250,000 108, 127 $2500 17o $3 8o $450 149 $5 8o $5,000 23r $50,000 106, 134 $500 6o $5000 1o, 4o $7,200,000 38o, 38r $750 6o .22 59, 161 .30-.30 101 .38-caliber 84 .38 94, 154 c 2 / Capitalization CAPITALIZATION [I’M FLYING DOWN TO TIGERS’ BIGHT 19r TO SEE A GUY HIRFF TOLD ME ABOUT. • Captaincy and Leadership in Rugby Union
Captaincy and Leadership in Rugby Union HELP, Second Year List of contents 1. Introduction 2. The Four Captains 3. The Views of The Captains 4. Comparing and Contrasting the Captain’s Views 5. Interim Conclusions: Part One 6. Quali - Quantitative Survey 7. Interim Conclusions: Part Two 8. Leadership in Life 9. Overall Conclusions and Learnings 10. What Have I Learned? 11. Appendices 1. Introduction In this project, I am going to either prove or disprove two hypotheses: • firstly, that the position of a rugby player will make a difference to what they think a great captain is; and • secondly, that for a captain to be great, they do not have to be the best in their position. I will prove or disprove these hypotheses through the following research: • conducting semi-quantitative surveys • reading and analysing 4 great rugby captains’ autobiographies (qualitative research) and their views on leadership and captaincy • and finally wider online research. Rugby is a sport and subject that I am very passionate about, and I aspire to play at the highest level. Currently I play for Hampton U13 Bs and my club (Twickenham) first team. I find captaincy interesting as I think it takes great skill and certain characteristics to be a good captain let alone a country-leading world-famous great captain. My personal experiences of rugby captaincy have been periodically with my school team and regularly for my club. My personal view of rugby captaincy based on my experiences is that you need to be the hardest-working player on the pitch at all times – you may not be the most skilled, but you can be the hardest-working, and respect from your team- mates and from your coaches comes from this work ethic.

This little square opens up like an oyster at a point where the decumani, the Greek main streets, become a tangle of narrow medieval lanes and heavy gray-and-white buildings. Like an oyster, this square has a pearl: An ancient statue of the Nile, popularly known as Corpo di Napoli, the body of Naples. The story of this statue is peculiar. Dating back to the second or third centuries, when it was erected to mark the presence of an Egyptian colony in the city, the statue disappeared for a long time and was rediscovered in the twelfth century. Its head was missing, and the presence of children lying at its breasts led people to believe that it represented Parthenope, the virgin nymph to whom the foundation of the city is mythically attributed. In 1657 the statue was restored, and a more suitable male head made it clear that the reclining figure symbolized the Egyptian river and the children personifications of its tributaries.

PRIVILEGED ATTORNEY-CLIENT COMMUNICATION EXECUTIVE SUMMARY SECOND AMENDED AND RESTATED LICENSE AGREEMENT (“SPIDER-MAN”) CREATIVE ISSUES This memo summarizes certain terms of the Second Amended and Restated License Agreement (“Spider-Man”) between SPE and Marvel, effective September 15, 2011 (the “Agreement”). 1. CHARACTERS AND OTHER CREATIVE ELEMENTS: a. Exclusive to SPE: . The “Spider-Man” character, “Peter Parker” and essentially all existing and future alternate versions, iterations, and alter egos of the “Spider- Man” character. • A Last Talk with Leslie Mcfarlane
A Last Talk with Leslie McFarlane DA VID PALMER L eslie McFarlane, one of the world's most popular children's authors and a prolific contributor to Canadian popular culture, died on September 6th, 1977, in Whitby, Ontario. Born at Carleton Place, Ontario, in 1902, he worked as a reporter for several newspapers in Ontario and Massachusetts, and from the twenties to the forties contributed hundreds of stories and serials to the "better pulps" and "sn~ooth-paper magazines" (as Maclean's explained in 1940) in Canada, the U.S.A. and Great Britain. In this period he also published two novels, and under various pseudonyms wrote numerous children's adventure books for the Stratemeyer Syndicate of New Jersey (home of the Bobbsey Twins), including the first Hardy Boys books. In the late thirties and forties he wrote dozens of radio plays, and in 1944, after two years with the Department of Munitions and Supply, he was invited by John Grierson to join the National Film Board. During the next fourteen years he wrote, produced or directed (often all three) twenty- eight documentary fbs, winning several awards and an Oscar nomination. In 1958 he became head of the television drama script department at the CBC and wrote many television plays for that and other networks. He continued to produce occasional books (and revisions of earlier works) for children, and some of these later writings are reviewed elsewhere in this issue of CCL. Ironically, in view of this enormous output, McFarlane is probably best known now as the original Franklin W.

AUGUST 2009 C O R B O S I E R O E T A L . 2415 The Contribution of Eastern North Pacific Tropical Cyclones to the Rainfall Climatology of the Southwest United States KRISTEN L. CORBOSIERO Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences, University of California, Los Angeles, Los Angeles, California MICHAEL J. DICKINSON Weather Predict Consulting, Inc., Narragansett, Rhode Island LANCE F. BOSART Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, University at Albany, State University of New York, Albany, New York (Manuscript received 26 August 2008, in final form 6 March 2009) ABSTRACT Forty-six years of summer rainfall and tropical cyclone data are used to explore the role that eastern North Pacific tropical cyclones (TCs) play in the rainfall climatology of the summer monsoon over the southwestern United States. Thirty-five TCs and their remnants were found to bring significant rainfall to the region, representing less than 10% of the total number of TCs that formed within the basin. The month of September was the most common time for TC rainfall to occur in the monsoon region as midlatitude troughs become more likely to penetrate far enough south to interact with the TCs and steer them toward the north and east. On average, the contribution of TCs to the warm-season precipitation increased from east to west, accounting for less than 5% of the rainfall in New Mexico and increasing to more than 20% in southern California and northern Baja California, with individual storms accounting for as much as 95% of the summer rainfall. The distribution of rainfall for TC events over the southwest United States reveals three main categories: 1) a direct northward track from the eastern Pacific into southern California and Nevada, 2) a distinct swath northeastward from southwestern Arizona through northwestern New Mexico and into southwestern Col- orado, and 3) a broad area of precipitation over the southwest United States with embedded maxima tied to terrain features.
