36 Staff REFLECTION LETTER FROM OUR BOARD CHAIR & CEO

Dear Friends,

Our United Way’s history shows that our organization has never shied away from rising to the occasion when our community is most in need. This has never been truer than during 2019 and the early months of 2020 in which a series of unforeseen events -- a migrant influx, a mass casualty event, and a global pandemic -- impacted our everyday way of life.

The events of the past year have undoubtedly shaken our community’s ethos, but it has not broken it. In recovery and healing, there is strength. While each of these circumstances have been unprecedented, it’s been our honor to serve our community by doing what we know best, which is to mobilize and respond quickly. Just imagine if more children and families looking for Through our work and experiences, United Way has been trusted to respond to these three major community support had access to resources and programs that issues, but it has only been through the generosity of our donors and collaboration of community partners helped them struggle less and gave them more hope.
