In just three short years, she has already placed first in novice competition in both Seattle and St. Louis, and has ranked second in overall women's categories in both Night of Pride I and II in Dallas. But Donna, who is a radiological technician at a Dallas-area hospital, didn't set out to com pete. She does it because she seesit as a way of helpi ng "the lesbian and gaycommunity in the areas of HIV and related programs such asthe Buddy Project ofOak Lawn Community Servicesand Bryan's House," a facility for children affected by HIV and AIDS. One might think that, with both professional and sports careers, Donna would find it difficultto maintain a relationship aswell. But after six years with her partner, Pamela, and raising a teenage son, it seems that Donna's home life is as secure as her public one. Donna iscurrently in trainingforthe 1994 Gay Games, where she hopes to secure a gold medal. Considering the commitment and dedication of this active young woman, we have every confidence that her quest forthe gold will not go unfulfilled.
