The ’ Company at Fortnum & Mason: A Celebration of Craftsmanship

A month-long showcase for some of the UK’s best goldsmithing and silversmithing talent selling their latest collections, with Meet the Maker events during London Craft Week (9-13 May).

The Goldsmiths’ Company, the 700 year-old livery company supporting excellence in goldsmithing and silversmithing is teaming up with iconic British heritage retailer Fortnum & Mason to showcase some of the best jewellers and contemporary silversmiths working in the UK today. This special initiative runs 3 – 31 May and includes London Craft Week 9 – 13 May.

For the month of May, a selection of 26 jewellers and silversmiths specially curated by the Goldsmiths’ Company will showcase items from their latest collections in three specially designed locations within Fortnum & Mason’s flagship store on Piccadilly. The display will celebrate Fortnum & Mason’s historic commitment to the best of British craftsmanship and give its international clientele the opportunity to learn about, and purchase work, from some of the UK’s most exciting makers working in and today.

In Fortnum & Mason’s second floor department, the Goldsmiths’ Company will be displaying twelve jewellers who combine unparalleled creativity with exceptional making skills to create truly distinctive luxury jewellery. Highlights include faceted gold jewellery inspired by fractals by Jo Hayes-Ward; gem-set rings from Disa Allsopp and Mark Nuell; and striking Participating makers: contemporary bangles of silver gilt and colourful resin by Stephanie Holt. Ndidi Ekubka - Silversmith James Dougal – Silversmith On the first floor amongst Fortnum’s famed tableware and tea Disa Allsopp - Jeweller accessories, the Goldsmiths’ Company presents makers known Vicki Ambery - Silversmith for their contemporary approach to silverware. From silver Mary Ann Simmons - Silversmith teapots to caddy spoons, silver egg cups to honey pots, these Chris Boland - Jeweller luxury items will add a modern dash of glamour to any domestic Sonia Cheadle - Jeweller setting. Featuring a modern silver tea caddy and spoon by Erin Angela Cork - Silversmith Chenoa Quinn and a honey pot with silver dipper by Adam Tomasz Donocik Veevers. Yen Duong - Jeweller Gill Galloway Whitehead On the recently refurbished gentleman’s third floor, the Jo Hayes Ward - Jeweller Goldsmiths’ Company presents precious metal items for men. Susi Hines - Jeweller Jewelled , architecturally inspired boxes, and wine bottle Kathryn Hinton - Silversmith coasters combining silver and leather are just some of the Stephanie Holt treasures on offer. Other items include textured cufflinks in Adrian Hope - Silversmith silver and gold by Gill Galloway-Whitehead; silver boxes with Ornella Ianuzzi - Jeweller innovative corrugated glass lids by James Dougall; and men’s Josef Koppmann - Jeweller rings with precious stones by Chris Boland. The Goldsmiths’ Company

The Goldsmiths’ Company, one of the major City Livery Companies, received its first Royal Charter in 1327. Today the purpose of the Goldsmiths’ Company is to contribute to British national life by supporting its related crafts, industry and trade and through wider charitable and educational activity. The Company’s Assay Office has been responsible for testing the quality of precious metals for over 700 years.

2012 the opening of the Goldsmiths’ Centre in Clerkenwell, a state-of-the-art facility comprised of workshops, training and exhibition space, and conference facilities.

The Company supports over 300 charitable causes and educational projects through its official Charity. The Goldsmiths’ Company’s collection of silver is one of the largest of its kind in the UK, with pieces dating from 1350 to present day.
