Marco Casagrande Marco Casagrande Marco Casagrande (født 7. mai 1971 i Åbo, Finland) er en finsk arkitekt, forfatter og professor i arkitektur. Han ble uteksaminert fra Tekniska högskolan i Helsingfors, avdeling for arkitektur i 2001. sammen med sin daværende partner Sami Rintala ble de i 1999 kåret til finalister i Architecural Review's konkurranse «Emerging Architecture» og ble etter dette invitert til biennalen i Venezia, hvor deres arbeid «60 Minute Man», ble av New York Times reporter kåret til hans personlige favoritt. En eikeskog, plantet i en forlatt lekter fylt med kompostert «human waste» tilsvarende hva Venezias produserer i løpet av 60 minutter dannet rammen for dette arbeidet. Casagrande startet Casagrande Laboratory, ( C-lab ) Helsingfors (2003-)og C-lab Taiwan, hvor han nå arbeider med medarbeidere med ulik bakgrunn innen arkitektur, byplanlegging, design, og kunst. 1 Casagrandes arbeider i krysningspunkter mellom disipliner - installasjonskunst, arkitektur, sirkus, urbanisme, performance, og økologisk og bærekraftig planlegging - hvor disiplin er underliggende historien i arbeidet. Hans arbeider er karakteristiske i sin søken etter «Human Layer» den underbevisste arkitekturen og det virkelig virkelige - «Real reality» og bærer preg av dette i sin stillferdige og ofte aksjonistiske form. .. in search for subconscious architecture, real reality and connection between the modern man and nature,one shall not be blindfolded by stress, the surroundings of economics, the online access to entertainment or information. What is real is valuable.. Marco Casagrande «Treasure Hill» transformerte han et illegalt bebodd område til et eksperiment laboratorium for økologisk urbanisme. For dette arbeidet ble Casagrande utnevnt som kandidat for «professor of ecological urban planning» i Tamkang University i Taiwan. Dette arbeidet var opprinnelig tenkt instaleret på Cuba, men den politiske motstanden tvang prosjektet til Italia. The practical workshop was directed by professor Marco Casagrande, who encouraged students to get in touch with the local environment in order to “become by doing” and act accordingly to what they had learned. Here’s the list of the teaching staff and of the participants: • Philosopher and psychologist Stefano Serafini (I.S.B., Italy) introduced the use of environmental psychology and post-darwinian biological theories to re-orient the approach to design. • Artist and architect prof. Marco Casagrande (Ruin Academy, Finland/Taiwan) led hand- building experiences after listening to the city’s organism (biourban acupuncture). • Design thinker and architect Yulia Kryazheva (Yulia Ink., The Netherlands) introduced the use of sketching & drawing as a tool to get in touch with the complexity of a place. • Professor Antonio Caperna (I.S.B.,Italy),architect,and professor Eleni Tracada (University of Derby, UK), architect, introduced and showed practical examples of Biourbanism and algorithmic sustainable design.

However, there is a point of concern, the city deals with great social and economic inequality among its districts. So, aimed at fostering social inclusion and cohesion, the municipality adopted the creative economy as a factor of sustainable development, implementing small-scale interventions in vulnerable districts, called Creative Villa (Vila Caritive, in Portuguese). They are cultural centers installed in vulnerable areas, focusing on creative economy fields such as gastronomy, film, music, design and crafts helps vulnerable groups like homeless people, sole mothers, young people and rehab drug addicts, providing platforms for their social and political capacity building, fostering notions of cultural belongingness. In these cultural centers people can interact with each other and enjoy learning about culture.
