Funeral Music Selections: Song Lyrics FUNERAL MUSIC SELECTIONS: SONG LYRICS ENTRANCE/GATHERING SONGS SONG COMPOSER Amazing Grace TRADITIONAL Be Not Afraid Bob Dufford Be Still, My Soul Katharina von Schlegel; Jean Sibelius Glory and Praise to Our God Dan Schutte Here I Am Tom Booth Here I Am, Lord Dan Schutte How Great Thou Art Stuart Hine I Heard the Voice of Jesus Bonar; Kingsfold, trad. English Melody Morning Has Broken Eleanor Farjeon; BUNESSAN Amazing Grace (Traditional) 1. Amazing grace! How sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me! I once was lost, but now am found, was blind but now I see. 2. T'was grace that taught my heart to fear. And grace my fears relieved; How precious did that grace appear the hour I first believed! 3. The Lord has promised good to me; his word my hope secures; He will my shield and portion be as long as life endures. 4. Through many dangers, toils and snares, I have already come; ‘Tis grace that brought me safe thus far, and grace will lead me home. 5. When we’ve been there ten thousand years, bright shining as the sun, we’ve no less days to sing God’s praise than when we’d first begun. Be Not Afraid (Bob Dufford) Be not afraid. I go before you always. Come follow me, and I will give you rest. o Verses: 1. You shall cross the barren desert, but you shall not die of thirst. You shall wander far in safety though you do not know the way. You shall speak your words in foreign lands and all will understand. You shall see the face of God and live. 2. If you pass through raging waters in the sea, you shall not drown if you walk amid the burning flames, you shall not be harmed. If you stand before the pow'r of hell and death is at your side, know that I am with you through it all. 3. Blessed are your poor, for the kingdom shall be theirs. Blest are you that weep and mourn, for one day you shall laugh. And if wicked tongues insult and hate you all because of me, blessed, blessed are you! Be Still, My Soul (Katharina von Schlegel; Jean Sibelius) 1. Be still, my soul; the Lord is on thy side; Bear patiently the cross of grief or pain; Leave to thy God to order and provide; In every change He faithful will remain. Be still, my soul; thy best, thy heavenly, Friend through thorny ways leads to a joyful end. 2. Be still, my soul; thy God doth undertake to guide the future as He has the past. Thy hope, thy confidence, let nothing shake; All now mysterious shall be bright at last. Be still, my soul; the waves and winds still know his voice who ruled them while He dwelt below. 3. Be still, my soul; the hour is hastening on when we shall be forever with the Lord, When disappointment, grief, and fear are gone, sorrow forgot, love's purest joys restored. Be still, my soul; when change and tears are past, all safe and blessed we shall meet at last. Glory and Praise to Our God (Dan Schutte) Glory and praise to our God, who alone gives light to our days. Many are the blessings he bears to those who trust in his ways. o Verses: 1. We, the daughters and sons of him who built the valleys and plains, praise the wonders our God has done in ev’ry heart that sings. 2. In his wisdom he strengthens us, like gold that’s tested in fire. Though the power of sin prevails, our God is there to save. 3. Ev’ry moment of ev’ry day our God is waiting to save, always ready to seek the lost, to answer those who pray. 4. God has watered our barren land and spent his merciful rain. Now the rivers of life run full for anyone to drink. Here I Am (Tom Booth) Here I am, standing right beside you. Here I am; do not be afraid. Here I am, waiting like a lover. I am here; here I am. 1. Do not fear when the tempter calls you. Do not fear even though you fall. Do not fear, I have conquered evil. Do not fear; never be afraid. 2. I am here in the face of ev’ry child. I am here in ev’ry warm embrace. I am here with tenderness and mercy. Here I am; I am here. 3. I am here in the midst of ev’ry trial. I am here in the face of despair. I am here when pardoning your brother. Here I am; I am here. Here I Am, Lord (Dan Schutte) Here I am Lord, Is it I Lord? I have heard You calling in the night. I will go Lord, if You lead me. I will hold Your people in my heart. o Verses: 1. I, the Lord of sea and sky, I have heard my people cry. All who dwell in dark and sin, my hand will save. I, who made the stars of night, I will make their darkness bright. Who will bear My light to them? Whom shall I send? 2. I, the Lord of snow and rain, I have borne my peoples pain. I have wept for love of them, they turn away. I will break their hearts of stone, give them hearts for love alone. I will speak My word to them. Whom shall I send? 3. I, the Lord of wind and flame, I will tend the poor and lame. I will set a feast for them, my hand will save. Finest bread I will provide, till their hearts be satisfied. I will give My life to them, whom shall I send? How Great Thou Art (Stuart Hine) Then sings my soul, my savior God to thee; how great thou art, how great thou art! o Verses: 1. O Lord my God! When I in awesome wonder consider all the worlds thy hands have made. I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder, thy pow'r throughout the universe displayed; 2. When through the woods and forest glades I wander, and hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees; When I look down from lofty mountain grandeur and hear the brook, and feel the gentle breeze; 3. And when I think that God, his Son not sparing, sent him to die, I scarce can take it in, that on the cross, my burden gladly bearing, he bled and died to take away my sin; 4. 4. When Christ shall come with shouts of acclamation and take me home, what joy shall fill my heart! Then I shall bow in humble adoration, and there proclaim, my God, how great thou art! I Heard the Voice of Jesus (Bonar; Kingsfold, trad. English Melody) 1. I heard the voice of Jesus say, "Come unto me and rest; Lay down, thou weary one, lay down thy head upon my breast." I came to Jesus as I was, so weary, worn, and sad; I found in him a resting place, and he has made me glad. 2. I heard the voice of Jesus say, "Behold, I freely give the living water; thirsty one, stoop down, and drink, and live." I came to Jesus, and I drank of that life-giving stream; My thirst was quenched, my soul revived, and now I live in him. 3. I heard the voice of Jesus say, "I am this dark world's light; look unto me, thy morn shall rise, and all thy day be bright." I looked to Jesus, and I found in him my star, my sun; and in that light of life I'll walk till trav'ling days are done. Morning Has Broken (Eleanor Farjeon; Bunessan) 1. Morning has broken like the first morning; blackbird has spoken like the first bird. Praise for the singing! Praise for the morning! Praise for them springing fresh from the Word! 2. Sweet the rain's new fall, sunlit from heaven, like the first dewfall on the first grass. Praise for the sweetness of the wet garden, sprung in completeness where his feet pass. 3. Mine is the sunlight! Mine is the morning born of the one light Eden saw play! Praise with elation, praise ev'ry morning, God's recreation of the new day! PSALMS D1: Psalm 23 The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want. OR Though I walk in the valley of darkness, I fear no evil, for you are with me. Verses: o The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. In verdant pastures he gives me repose; Beside restful waters he leads me: he refreshes my soul. He guides me in right paths for his name’s sake. o He guides me in right paths for his name’s sake. Even though I walk in the dark valley I fear no evil; for you are at my side with your rod and your staff that give me courage. o You spread the table before me in the sight of my foes; You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. o Only goodness and kindness follow me all the days of my life; And I shall dwell in the house of the Lord for years to come. D2: Psalm 25 To you, O Lord, I lift my soul. Verses: o Remember that your compassion, O Lord, and your kindness are from of old. In your kindness remember me, because of your goodness, O Lord.

  • A Multi-Dimensional Study of the Emotion in Current Japanese Popular Music
Acoust. Sci. & Tech. 34, 3 (2013) #2013 The Acoustical Society of Japan PAPER A multi-dimensional study of the emotion in current Japanese popular music Ryo Yonedaà and Masashi Yamada Graduate School of Engineering, Kanazawa Institute of Technology, 7–1 Ohgigaoka, Nonoich, 921–8501 Japan ( Received 22 March 2012, Accepted for publication 5 September 2012 ) Abstract: Musical psychologists illustrated musical emotion with various numbers of dimensions ranging from two to eight. Most of them concentrated on classical music. Only a few researchers studied emotion in popular music, but the number of pieces they used was very small. In the present study, perceptual experiments were conducted using large sets of popular pieces. In Experiment 1, ten listeners rated musical emotion for 50 J-POP pieces using 17 SD scales. The results of factor analysis showed that the emotional space was constructed by three factors, ‘‘evaluation,’’ ‘‘potency’’ and ‘‘activity.’’ In Experiment 2, three musicians and eight non-musicians rated musical emotion for 169 popular pieces. The set of pieces included not only J-POP tunes but also Enka and western popular tunes. The listeners also rated the suitability for several listening situations. The results of factor analysis showed that the emotional space for the 169 pieces was spanned by the three factors, ‘‘evaluation,’’ ‘‘potency’’ and ‘‘activity,’’ again. The results of multiple-regression analyses suggested that the listeners like to listen to a ‘‘beautiful’’ tune with their lovers and a ‘‘powerful’’ and ‘‘active’’ tune in a situation where people were around them. Keywords: Musical emotion, Popular music, J-POP, Semantic differential method, Factor analysis PACS number: 43.75.Cd [doi:10.1250/ast.34.166] ‘‘activity’’ [3].

  • The Problem of Pain
    C. S. LEWIS THE PROBLEM OF PAIN 1940 Contents Preface I Introduction II Divine Omnipotence III Divine Goodness IV Human Wickedness V The Fall of Man VI Human Pain VII Human Pain - continued VIII Hell IX Animal Pain X Heaven Appendix Preface WHEN Mr. Ashley Sampson suggested to me the writing of this book, I asked leave to be allowed to write it anonymously, since, if I were to say what I really thought about pain, I should be forced to make statements of such apparent fortitude that they would become ridiculous if anyone knew who made them. Anonymity was rejected as inconsistent with the series; but Mr. Sampson pointed out that I could write a preface explaining that I did not live up to my own principles! This exhilarating programme I am now carrying out. Let me confess at once, in the words of good Walter Hilton, that throughout this book "I feel myself so far from true feeling of that I speak, that I can naught else but cry mercy and desire after it as I may" (Scale of Perfection I. xvi) Yet for that very reason there is one criticism which cannot be brought against me. No one can say "He jests at scars who never felt a wound" for I have never for one moment been in a state of mind to which even the imagination of serious pain was less than intolerable. If any man is safe from the danger of under-estimating this adversary, I am that man. I must add, too, that the only purpose of the book is to solve the intellectual problem raised by suffering; for the far higher task of teaching fortitude and patience I was never fool enough to suppose myself qualified, nor have I anything to offer my readers except my conviction that when pain is to be borne, a little courage helps more than much knowledge, a little human sympathy more than much courage, and the least tincture of the love of God more than all.

2 Tabellförteckning Förkortningar Tabell 1: Engelskans roller i J-pop - s. 8, ADESS - Adessiv - s. 12 ADJ - Adjektiv ALL - Allativ Tabell 2: Antalet texter respektive funktion av CONJ - Konjunktion J-pop-engelska förekommer i - s. 19 DO - Direkt objekt EMPH - Emfas GEN - Genitiv HV - Hjälpverb INT - Interrogativ NEG - Negativ PRT - Preteritum REF - Refererande SBJ - Subjekt TOP - Topik TRNSF - Transformativ 3 Innehållsförteckning Tabellförteckning........................................................................................................................3 Förkortningar..............................................................................................................................3

  • Introduction the Warrior Worship Idea Is Simply That a Surrendered Warrior Is a Victorious Warrior
Introduction The Warrior Worship idea is simply that a surrendered warrior is a victorious warrior. A surrendered warrior life is a powerful and power-filled life. Fully giving our lives over to our amazing King Jesus is the kind of obedience He requires of His followers. It’s what Jesus means when He says “If you love Me, you’ll obey My commands” (John 14:15, GNT). That kind of commitment begins with believing “all Scripture is breathed out by God and is useful to teach us what is true” (2 Timothy 3:16, ESV). What amazing payoffs in this life and the next for those that serve Jesus above anything else! His promise is “no eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has imagined the things God has prepared for those that love Him” (1 Corinthians 2:9, NLT). There is simply no way to live as a warrior for Jesus Christ without reading, memorizing, digesting and living the truths of God’s Word. “The Word of God is alive and active, sharper than any double-edged sword able to expose our innermost thoughts and desires” (Hebrews 4:12, NIV). That’s why we’re so excited to offer this devotional to go along with the Warrior Worship original worship music project “Off The Map” (in partnership with Warrior Leadership Summit 2020). God’s warriors -you!- have so much potential! “You are God’s masterpiece, created in Christ Jesus to do good works He prepared in advance for you to do” (Ephesians 2:10, NLT). Loving and living the Bible unlocks the amazing potential and future God has for you! The guy who wrote these Bible studies, Jesse Colucci, in addition to writing a lot of Warrior Worship music, is one of those warriors that loves and lives God’s Word.
