Shadows Træf i Møldrup: Søndag den 31. august 2008 Jeg ved ikke hvordan Per får energien fra, men nu er det 7. år i træk han har kaldt til Shadowstræf i møbelfabrikken, og op mod 100 mennesker mødte op, for ikke at gå glip af dette fine arrangement. Jens Varmløse demonstrerer Carl Martin forstærker. Per har også en fantastisk evne til at samle et bredt udvalg af dygtige musikere, The Old Young Ones, Jolly Jokers, Bjarne Jensen‟s 60‟er band, Ove Niel- sen, Kent Øgendal, Søren Tønnesen o.s.v. alle for at vi skulle få en underholdende eftermiddag i Møl- drup. Ove Nielsen Jørgen Selmer havde lavet en demonstration af hans The Old Young Ones. ice-power forstærker, som samlede en kreds af inte- resserede omkring ham. 4 Jolly Jokers havde i år fået deres oprindelige trom meslager med. Kent Øgendal Jens Varmløse demonstrer en steelguitar. Søren Tønnesen spiller på Gibson Les Paul. Sædvanen tro havde Inger været aktiv i køkkenet og trakterede med kaffebord, med alskens slags kager og søde sager, senere trakterede hun også med et veldækket aftensbord, jo der manglede skam ikke noget i Møldrup, sikken en gæstfrihed. Søren Pedersen Bjarne Jensen på bas med 60‟er bandet. 5 Efterhånden dukkede de forskellige bands op… Her er det KON-TIKI fra Tyskland… 6. September i Borgerforeningens hus i Nyborg …Er vel overstået og blev et arrangement, som kun kan betragtes som en kæmpe succes på trods af lidt Brian Locking og Keld (Moonlight Shadows) lydtekniske problemer. Vi måtte ret tidligt melde udsolgt i salen, så der kun var ledige pladser på balkonen. Tidligt Lørdag ankom lydfolk og stillede op… Brian Locking lytter koncentreret til lydprøverne… …så der var klar til lydprøver… 6 Dørene blev åbnet kl. 14.00, hvor publikum allerede Første band på Scenen var HITFINGERS… stod i kø… …Som straks skabte den rigtige Cliff & Shadows- stemning. ..Og salen var hurtigt fyldt.. over 250 var mødt op Brian Locking var selvfølgelig på scenen sammen med bandet… Brian Locking og Villy Madsen….eller er det Hank Kl. 15.00 bød formand Søren Pedersen velkommen. Marvin….Eller måske Don Ø ??? Næste band på scenen var FLINGEL BUNT… …Som sædvanligt leverede musik i topklasse.. 7 Bandet fremførte bl.a. en fantastisk udgave af Dire Straits nummeret ”Sultans of swing” som udløste et bragende bifald. …”Belinda” , ”Oh what a kiss” og alle de andre numre vi kender fra de glade 60ere..skabte stem- ning i salen. Arne Østergaard i en forrygende udgave af ”Little B. ” Brian Locking, Knud Brix & The Rocking Ghosts i skønt samspil… …SÅ - var det tid til en pause…. Brian Locking & Flingel Bunt for fuld udblæsning i ”Blue Shadows” …Herefter gik THE ROCKING GHOSTS på sce- nen… …Hvor Allan ( Borgerforeningens Hus ) som igen i år.. havde lavet en fremragende buffet. …Nostalgi for alle pengene… 8 Efter at vi havde fået lidt godt til maven, var det igen tid til god musik og vi fik MEMORY LANE på scenen, som lagde ud med ”Move it”, til stor glæde for alle de fremmødte Cliff-fans… Moonlight Shadows havde ved showet premiere på to helt nye numre: ”Lady” skrevet af Børge johnsen (tv) og ”Homage to love” skrevet af Knud Brix (th) Næste band var KON-TIKI fra Tyskland… Fuld fart på i nummeret ”Django” ...som fik de ”unge” som bare er blevet ældre, til at mindes sko- letiden, fhv. kærester osv… ..Som lagde ud med en række flotte instrumental- numre… …Herefter kom Wolfgang Reisberg på scenen.. Så kom turen til MOONLIGHT SHADOWS… ..Som lagde ud med….et flot intro: ”Moonlight shadows / Ghostriders in the sky”, hvorefter vi fik alle de kendte Shadownumre… 9 …Og så var der Cliff & Shadowsstemning, som fik salen til at gynge… Wofgang & Kon-Tiki måtte gi- ve hele 5 ekstranumre. Lidt synd for alle dem der skulle nå toget og derfor gik glip af denne oplevel- se… Brian og personalet i Borgerforeningens Hus. Ved dette show havde vi valgt at støtte… Vi havde derfor opfordret publikum til at medbrin- ge brugt legetøj. Det blev til ca. 500 stk. legetøj, som helt sikkert vil skabe glæde. Stor tak til alle som støttede dette projekt. …Som sædvanlig i sprudlende humør, optrådte fle- re gange i løbet af dagen, og sluttede showet af kl. 23.45.. med en flot udgave af: ” Time to say good- bye ” så ikke et øje var tørt og modtog et stående bifald. Knud Brix (Shadowsklubben) kunne i pausen, med stor glæde overrække det indsamlede til Marianne & Lenette, som står bag projektet.

    Our August club night The house band Breakthru' opened up the evening as usual, we also saw them play last Wednesday at a nearby Club in Molesey where they had a chance to play a few non Shadows hits and explore some different sounds. I was first up to get it over and done with, not too good for me as I did not have much pratice and am only just getting full feeling back into my fingers. THE QUESTS by Tony Fairbairn Tony became a fan of The Quests when he saw them live in Singapore in 1964 and here he tells their story Singapore in the early 1960s was an exciting musical crossroads of the world. The weekly evening Amah’s noisily flaunted all the current UK and US hit parade records, and by day you could wander into C K Tang’s department store on Orchard Road and pick up the Jumping Jewels new LP. On the live front, guitar bands were forming all over the place in response to the combined demands of an enthusiastic local audience and the enormous Commonwealth military presence on the island at that time. In retrospect it was something of a golden age for local music, a time of encouragement and opportunity for budding musicians. Amongst the bands honing their skills at such venues as the Golden Venus was a group of very talented youngsters who had titled themselves The Quests and who were fast making a name for themselves. The band’s fortune took a dramatic upturn in 1964 when they were spotted by EMI, for whom they wrote and recorded an instrumental called Shanty. To their delight it quickly topped the Far Eastern hit parade and kick-started them on a professional career that has now passed into Singaporean musical folklore. Their story begins in 1961 with four teenage friends who used to meet to share their interest in the music of Paul Anka, Johnny Tillotson and The Ventures.

    I grew up during the heyday of pop instrumental music in the 1950s and the 1960s (there were 30 instrumental hits in the Top 40 in 1961), and I would listen to the radio faithfully for the 30 seconds before the hourly news when they would play instrumentals (however the first 45’s I bought were vocals: Bimbo by Jim Reeves in 1954, The Ballad of Davy Crockett with the flip side Farewell by Fess Parker in 1955, and Sixteen Tons by Tennessee Ernie Ford in 1956).
