Dioceses and Archdioceses
All local Catholic institutions, e.g. missions, parishes, schools, depicted in the images are served by the Latin Rite archdioceses and dioceses listed below. Using their contemporary names, they are arranged alphabetically by state and there under by lineage (i.e. predecessor and successor dioceses) beginning in 1900. This enables researchers to find more information when the diocese serving them has changed over time.
The three archival collections at Marquette University from where the images were obtained may contain more related information. They are the records of the Black and Indian Mission Collection and the Catholic Negro-American Mission Board within the Bureau of Catholic Indian Missions Records, and the National Black Sisters Conference Records.
