Boylen was named the 14th men’s head basketball coach at the University of Utah on March 27, 2007. Although this is his first head coaching position, Boylen brings 20 years of coaching experience in the collegiate and professional ranks with him to Utah.

eff Smith is in his first season as an J assistant coach with the University of Utah men’s basketball program. He comes to Utah after five seasons on the staff at Oakland University.

During the 2005-06 and 2006-07 seasons, Smith was the associate head coach at Oakland. He helped the Grizzlies reach the 2005 NCAA Tournament, where they lost to eventual national champion North Carolina in the first round. Wilson was the top assistant at UC Santa Barbara from 1998-2004. He helped direct UCSB to an average of 18 wins in the last three years of his tenure. mark plaisier Secretary, Managers Graduate Manager First Season at Utah

Mark Plaisier is in his first year with the University of Utah men’s basketball program. He is the graduate manager for the Runnin’ Ute program. Prior to joining the Utah staff, Plaisier was an assistant coach at Valley Christian High School in Chandler, Ariz. and also served as an assistant for the Arizona Magic AAU team. Bridget Graba Chris Anderson Quinn Williams Plaisier played for two years at Grand Canyon University and two years at Calvin Head Secretary Manager Head Manager College. The Grand Rapids, Mich. native graduated from Grand Canyon in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in physical education. He is engaged to be married to Kelly Boogaard in the summer of 2008.

zaneta ivy Academic Advisor First Year at Utah

Zaneta Ivy is in her first year at the University of Utah. She Taylor Berthelsen Jason Chandler Marcus Frazier is the academic advisor for men’s basketball, as well as the Manager Manager Manager men’s and women’s and teams. Not pictured: Manager Ivy came to Utah from the University of Arkansas, where Onyeabor Geoffrey Onyeabor- she served as a graduate assistant academic counselor. Udeh. While at Arkansas, Ivy worked with football, men’s basketball and men’s track and field. She also worked in the compliance and sports information departments at Arkansas. Ivy also spent one year as a high school english/journalism teacher in Memphis, Tenn.

Ivy was a four-year track and field athlete at University of Memphis, where she Travis Porter earned a bachelor’s degree in exercise and sport science in 2002. She holds a mas- Manager ter’s degree in sports management from Arkansas, which she earned in 2005.

Academics/Career Counseling Utah’s award-winning student-athlete support services fall under the juris- diction of associate athletics director Mary Bowman. Among the services provided are academic advising, career counseling job internships and the NCAA CHAMPS/Life Skills program.

A former four-year starter on the Utah basketball team, Hendrix was team captain for three years, and team MVP and all-WAC in 1984-85. He went on to play six years with the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys.

With four full-time athletic academic advisors, the U. provides specialized COACHES & STAFF academic counseling for its student-athletes. JoAnn Hulbert-Eagan is the di- rector of academic services. Assistant director Zaneta Ivy, who works exten- sively with the men’s basketball team, is in her first year on the staff. The Ute academic team monitors the studies of each student-athlete to en- sure he or she is making progress toward a degree. The academic advisors also dispense their knowledge of departmental and University require- ments, and assist with course registration and the exploration and selection of majors. Dr. Bob Burks is in his 18th year the director of the Utah Sports Medicine Program. He is also an associate professor of orthopedic surgery at the U. Joining him on the Ute medical staff is fellow orthopedic surgeon Dr. Patrick Dr. Stuart Willick, M.D. Bill Bean Tom Iriye Greis, and family practitioners Dr. Dave Petron, Dr. Liz Joy, Dr. Amy Powell Team Physician Director of Sports Medicine Assistant Athletics Trainer and Dr. Stuart Willick.

Greis, in his 11th year as a member of the Ute medical staff, is the assistant professor of surgery and the basketball team’s orthopedist. He received his undergraduate and medical school training at the University of Michigan.

Petron, an assistant professor of orthopedics and family medicine at the U., is in his 18th year as a member of the Ute medical staff. Strength & Conditioning team physician for the U.S. Ski Team. Petron graduated from the University of North Dakota School of Medicine in 1986.

The daily physical care of the Utes is handled by the athletics training staff. Director of sports medicine Bill Bean is in his 32nd year at the U. He and four other certified athletic trainers work full-time with Utah’s 18-sport varsity program. The others are associate director of sports medicine Deb Willard- son and assistant trainers Tom Iriye, Trevor Jameson and Craig Switzler. Evan Simon John Webster Jameson, in his ninth year at the U., works extensively with the Ute men’s Asst. Strength & Conditioning Asst. Strength & Conditioning basketball team.
