  • Scealta Scoile!
Scealta Scoile! Meitheamh 2015 It’s Summertime! School’s Out! Marymount Hospice Our rang a sé pupils gave us yet another reason to be proud by making a wonderful Confirmation commitment to improving the gardens around nearby Marymount Hospice. Gardening gloves, buckets, forks and hoes were to be seen in action on Friday mornings during the final term, in what is a heart-warming example of how young people can be a force for such good. Aside from the spectacular transformation of the beds and planted areas around Marymount, not to mention the addition of hundreds of euros worth of beautiful flowers, paid for by a cake-sale organised by the pupils, their lively presence around the facility was welcomed and enjoyed immensely by the community there. Sincere thanks to our trusty band of rang a sé parents who did so much to facilitate this work. Is álainn agus is iontach an saothar a deintear i Marymount. New Infants Induction Day / Ár Naonáin Nua The school welcomed in glimpse of “big school” while excess of forty incoming parents enjoyed a welcome junior infants to an “cupán tae” in the Scout induction afternoon recently. Forde, Mairead Falvey, Cian Ahern Laura’s journey to the World Games began three years ago when she joined Owenabue Special Olympics Gymnastics Club in Car- rigaline. Thanks to a fantastic group of coaches Laura progressed quickly and qualified for the Ireland Games in Limerick in June of 2014. The Games were a wonderful experience both for the athletes and also the families. It was amazing to see the camaraderie between the athletes and to watch new friendships being forged. It truly embodied the Special Olympic Motto of “Let me win but if I cannot win-let me be brave in the attempt”. This motto is read out before every Special Olympics competition. During the competition the prospect of qualifying for the World Games in Los Angeles was the furthest thought from people’s minds as the competition was intense with anxious coaches and parents becoming “experts” overnight. The results were announced and Laura was on the podium having won both a Gold and Silver medal in artistic gymnastics which involves the disciplines of vault, floor, uneven bars and the beam.

Appendix A: River Basin District Maps The numbers on the maps correspond to the WWDL Registration Number of each agglomeration e.g. 34 is D0034-01. The full list of numbers is located at the end of Appendix A. To view a larger version of each map go to www.epa.ie/downloads/pubs A pass (green circle) indicates that the agglomeration complied with effluent quality and monitoring frequency standards. Agglomerations that failed due to effluent quality are divided into those that failed with <50% of samples taken over the limits for any parameter in the Directive (amber circle) and those plants with ≥50% of samples over the limits for at least one parameter (red triangle). This separates plants with occasional failures from those with persistent effluent quality failures throughout the year. Agglomerations that failed due to lack of secondary treatment in place (as per the Directive) are also shown (red square). A fail due to inadequate sample numbers taken is shown as a red circle. Agglomerations with no treatment (black square), preliminary treatment (black triangle) and primary treatment (black circle) are also indicated on each RBD map. • Famine Monuments – a Global Survey
Summary Guide: Famine Monuments – a Global Survey Dr Emily Mark-FitzGerald University College Dublin Last update: January 2014 This listing comprises post-1990s Famine monuments and memorials in Australia, Canada, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Britain and the United States. It includes primarily three-dimensional monuments and significant renovations or re-dedications (as opposed to plaques or signpostings of Famine-era relics). This summary listing is organized by country and region/county/state. Information includes city/town, region, date, title of monument (untitled works listed as Famine memorial), artist (if visual artist commissioned), and commissioning group or individual. More extensive details (including inscriptions, photographs, precise location and further historical details) may be found on www.irishfaminememorials.com (maintained by the author). As this is an evolving survey, new records of new monuments and other additions/corrections are most welcome: [email protected] See also Dr Emily Mark-FitzGerald, Commemorating the Irish Famine: Memory and the Monument (Liverpool University Press, 2013).
