The National specialty superintendent contract between the Vizsla Club of america (VCa) and onofrio expires with the 2016 VCa shows in Topeka, Kansas. in anticipation of needing a superintendent in 2017, the VCa sent out requests for proposals to six superintendents in september 2015. Two superintendents, Jack bradshaw and mb-F, declined to submit proposals; and the VCa received proposals from baRay, Foy Trent, onofrio and Rau. each proposal submitted raised a few questions, and the VCa contacted each superintendent for clarification. how these queries were answered was taken into consideration along with pricing and reputation. at its December 6, 2015, meeting, the board compared each of the four bids and reviewed comments and recommen- dations from show secretary Karen burgess. board members also offered their opinions and recommendations. after careful consideration, the VCa board voted unanimously to renew its contract for National specialty superintendent with onofrio.

2017 National Sweepstakes Judge at the December 6, 2015, teleconference meeting of the board of Directors, a new Judge selection process for the National specialty Judges was approved. within this process is a component for the selection of sweepstakes judges. The 2017 show Committee would like to utilize the following process for the first time in 2017: 1. The sweepstakes judge will be chosen no more than one year in advance. 2. The hosting show committee will solicit nominations from the membership via Vertical Response, the Facebook page and direct email to regional clubs. The committee will then select 3 to 5 names for consideration. The selec tions will be contacted for availability and biographies, and each biography will be posted at the National events for members to review and discuss. 3. after the National events, either on or before may 15, preference surveys will be sent to all members, requesting their top choice of the sweepstakes judges under consideration. 4. The judge with the most selections will be offered a contract by July 1. if you would like to recommend a sweepstakes judge for the 2017 National specialty show in Del mar, Ca, please send your selection by april 1 to Trish burdin, 2017 show Chair, at [email protected].

2015 was the inaugural year of the Iron Dog Competition. we created the program to celebrate the amazing versatility of our breed and the re- lationships built between dogs and handlers. we had 48 entries from all over the country and Canada. The program proved very popular so it will continue in 2016. During the Nationals week in ohio and via an online survey after the events comple- tion we took comments on how to make the program even better. The iron Dog com- mittee has worked hard to incorporate all the comments and update with a new program. at the November 18th VCa board meeting the new iron Dog rules were ap- proved. we hope to see many new and returning iron Dog teams in 2016.
