It’s a snowy, Christmas Eve in 1936, when in a castle, in rural Connecticut, a cast of actors gather for a holiday dinner after closing a long running play. Now, throw in some thunder, a room full of weapons, and an actor made famous for portraying and you just might begin to under- stand of where our story will take you tonight. I mean doesn’t that description just scream Christmas?

It’s that description that made me interested in directing this show for the holidays. While we all love the usual holiday fare, it’s nice to work on a project for the folks that simply can’t imagine sitting through another season filled with more of the same. There is defi- nitely room for both in our thriving theatre community.

This show centers around real life American actor . Gillette’s largest claim to fame was portraying Sherlock Holmes over 1,300 times on stage and film over 30 years. Many of the classic physical characteristics we associate with Holmes were originated by Gillette. This show borrows a lot from his life: the castle in Con- necticut; his propensity for inventing; and his lack of understanding that he isn't actually Sherlock Holmes. Though when you’ve played a role over 1,300 times, I would imagine the lines can get a little blur- ry.

I would like to thank this talented cast and crew for spending the last 6 weeks working tirelessly on this show. It truly is an ensemble piece and they all play their roles beautifully. I would also like to thank you for taking the time out of your busy holiday schedule to support lo- cal theatre.

Now sit back, relax and enjoy. The game, is most certainly, afoot.

Currently we are working with our architects to develop a timeline that will allow us to complete the project with a minimal disruption to our pa- trons, students, and production schedule. Once we have more details we will share them with you, and hopefully a sneak peek at what it will look like!
