Every living entity, therefore, must search for eternal happiness, not temporary happiness, The word 'satyam param dhīmahi' indicate that one should search for the Absolute Truth, not the relative truth. While offering prayers to the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Nrsimhadeva, Prahlad Maharaja said "bālasya neha śaraṇaṁ pitarau nṛsiṁha nārtasya cāgadam udanvati majjato nauḥ" Generally it is understood that the protectors for a child are his parents, but this is not actually the fact. The real protector is the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Ström ©2010 ABSTRACT The Erysichthon of Ovid’s Metamorphoses is given, in James Lasdun’s re-telling of the story, a repeat performance of chopping down a sacred tree, receiving the punishment of insatiable hunger, selling his daughter, and eating himself. Transgressive greed, impiety, and environmental destruction are elements appearing already amongst the Greek sources of this ancient myth, but Lasdun adds new weight to the environmental issues he brings out of the story, turning Erysichthon into a corrupt property developer. The modern American setting of “Erisychthon” lets the poem’s themes roam a long distance down the roads of self- improvement, consumption, and future-centredness, which contrast with Greek ideas about moderation, and perfection being located in the past. These themes lead us to the eternally unfulfilled American Dream. Backing up our ideas with other sources from or about America, we discover how well the Erysichthon myth fits some of the prevailing approaches to living in America, which seem to have stemmed from the idea that making the journey there would lead to a better life. We encounter not only the relationship between Ovid and Lasdun’s versions of the story, but between the earth and its human inhabitants, and find that some attitudes can be traced back a long way. -

Day 121 (May 1)—The Risen Christ Appears to His Disciples PRAY that you will be open to what Jesus means when He says, “As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” READ—John 20:19-21:25 OBSERVE—We’ve covered John 18:1-20:19 in our study of the passages common to the Gospels. In the events surrounding Jesus’ death, John parallels the Synoptic Gospels more closely than anyplace else. His account of Jesus’ post-resurrection appearances adds a great deal to our understanding of those incredible days! v.19-23—Though R.C. Sproul cautions us against assuming that the risen Christ passed through the door and into the room where the huddled disciples sat (Knowing Scripture, p. 46), it’s hard to see any other intention from John’s language. He seems to be describing a supernatural appearance, though Jesus immediately calms their fears by showing His hands and side. Before the dramatic appearance of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, Jesus gave Him to His followers in a quiet, but dramatic, fashion. Their spiritual power and authority as leaders of the infant church would enable them to exercise church discipline. v.24-29—We mentioned earlier that one of the reasons Thomas may not have been with the other disciples is that he was dealing with his own grief at disappointing his Lord (John 11:16). Though Thomas is a pragmatist and empiricist, when proof is offered, his response is perfect, “My Lord and my God!” As a message to future believers, Jesus emphasizes that faith is believing what is not seen (Hebrews 11:1), not requiring proof. -

Khamitkar1 Abstract Most stand-alone Hindu sculptures of the murtis are supported with a prabhavalaya behind which means a “Luminous circle, an Aureole or a Nimbus " that is the ornate arch, made of stone, wood or metal that stands just behind and above deity images in temples. To analyze the various images of prabhavalaya the author refers to the content extracted from various resources, sculptures of various temples and the most remarkable sculptures from some museums. The author will try to make an effort to classify the visual understanding of the prabhavalayas found in various parts of India that forms as a screen to enhance the importance of various god and goddesses.
