Then again, if I hadn't been looking for some old magazine cover CDs from the mid-1990s, I probably would never have found out about it at all. I'm hardly a Warp fanboy, though - although I bought most of their early 12"s (from WAP 1 up to about WAP15) pretty much on sight, once the label moved away from rave bleeps I pretty much gave up on them. Hardly surprising though, as I was mostly only buying rave tunes at the time.But I've always been open-minded; with a music collection ranging from opera/classical to hardcore punk/power violence, I ought to be :)Which brings me to this. I'm no expert on this type of sound, but another reviewer mentions Coldcut's "Journeys By DJ" mix, and I'm in complete agreement: it's just as good, with some similarities, but still very different. While I don't have many mixed CDs as unique as these, they are in my opinion equal in quality. Gloriously trippy, and would definitely have been a perfect accompaniment to dr*g-fuelled mornings-after when I was younger and much more capable of surviving such substances. I can almost smell the high-grade wafting around the room :DMy only criticism is that it's just not long enough!Love the cover art, too - It reminds me of some of the T-shirts I used to wear back in the mid-1990s. I must now try and track down the original "Blech" tape - though, judging by the prices on here, I don't think I'll be quite as lucky as I was to find this CD so cheaply! Thorgaginn This mix has been part of my life for almost 20 years now. It's been the soundtrack to everything from drugged up nights and blissful sunsets, to car crashes and cold turkeys. Somehow it seems to suit all of those things. Something to do with Björk surname (Guðmundsdóttir) ? Landaron the second blech; progeny. Wrathmaster "Blech" is also the German word for "metal sheets" although I have no idea if that is the intended meaning. Also if I remember correctly, Blech can be used in english as a way of something disgusting for example "Blech! This tastes horrible!" but thats just my assumption. Ranicengi 'Daughter of Blech'. Maybe a play on words, too, with the word 'Blech' - I don't know if it means something. Icelandic surnames are constructed this way: -son for boys, -döttir for girls, resp. 'son' and 'daughter'. Ghordana A timeless set...eventhough it's predominetly what most would label simply as a set filled with "experimental" music...if u listen carefully, u can hear all the elements/genres of music placed together so carefully, and in a subtle manner, so it doesn't come off choppy...elements of jazz, hip- hop, house, techno, ambient, and electro all fuse here behind the music...a wise choice of records put in just the right places all coming from Warp's greatest artists. MisterQweene Seriously one of the best electronic mixes out there. But then again, when you have such a fine body of work to start with, and two more than able DJs at the helm, what do you expect? Right up there with Coldcut's JDJ. SING This album is breath taking from start to finish. The mixing is seamless,and the music is culled from warps finest moments. A real contender for the "Best Electronic Album of All Time " category.
