And that, of course, is obvious given the intensity, sheer quality of their material and the flawless execution. Make no mistake, Children Of Bodom do not play around. They're here to kill. Formed in 1993 and hailing from the city of Espoo, Finland, this young Finnish group took their name from one of the biggest murder mysteries in the history of their home town and Finnish crime: the murders at the Lake Bodom. After starting out as a thrash-metal combo, the founding members Alexi Laiho (guitars and vocals), Jaska Raatikainen (drums), Henkka Sepp�l� (bass) and Alexander Kuoppala (guitars) soon found elements of classic heavy metal creeping into their music. After taking in keyboardist Janne Wirman to complete their line-up, they honed their combination of old schoold black metal, classic heavy, and death metal vocals into the sharpest instrument of its kind and headed out to a studio record a demo tape. After Spinefarm Records received Children Of Bodom's Deadnight Warrior demo, it didn't take long for the company to figure out what they had in their hands back in late 1996. Three spins of Deadnight Warrior later, the band was signed and ready to knock a few heads off. Their debut single was the self-titled hit single "Children Of Bodom" which went straight to number 1 on the Finnish charts and sold platinum. The debut full-length album Something Wild was released in Finland in 1997, and the whole Finnish metal scene was on its knees. Children Of Bodom supported Dimmu Borgir at the band's Helsinki show in November and were hailed as the new kings of Finnish underground metal by the press. Licensing deal with Nuclear Blast for central Europe was inked quickly and soon after middle Europe the album was also released in Japan and Thailand. Soon Children Of Bodom. was flying all over Europe and writing new material that would become the Hatebreeder album, which was released in February 1999. On Hatebreeder their music had found its true shape: the album was faster, heavier and more versatile than Something Wild. Pre- Hatebreeder single "Downfall" (which also included the cover song "No Commands" from the finnish thrash metal pioneers, Stone) went gold and ruled the Finnish charts. During the summer '99 Children Of Bodom toured Finland and Europe. In June they did three sold out gigs in Japan with Dark Tranquillity and Sinergy and recorded the ultimate live CD Tokyo Warhearts: Live In Japan. For those of you who think it was way too early to release a live cd after just two studio albums, Tokyo Warhearts: Live In Japan proves you wrong! Tokyo Warhearts: Live In Japan came out as a limited digibook- edition in Europe in October and all the 20.000 copies of it were almost immediately sold out. The buzz around the band was reaching new heights. Before heading to the studio again, Children Of Bodom's guitarist/vocalist Alexi Laiho found time to write songs and play on the Sinergy album To Hell And Back, while keyboardist Janne Wirman recorded an extraordinary solo project Unknown Soldier, under the guise of Warmen, proving that Children Of Bodom are no one man show, with every member contributing to their unique sound. In 2000 the single "Hate Me!" went #1 at the Finnish charts and sold gold in Finland in just a couple of weeks. Platinum sales (more than 10000 copies) soon followed. While the single was topping the charts, Children Of Bodom finished their studio sessions at Peter T�gtgren's Abyss Studio, and the third album Follow The Reaper saw the light of day on the 30th of October 2000. Follow The Reaper was a glorious mixture of their debut album's heavy riffing raw sound, combined with Hatebreeder monstrous technical metal acrobatics. The most noticable thing however was how much the band had improved as a unit and in bringing the personal levels of musicianship to a new high. After recording Follow The Reaper at Peter T�gtgren's infamous Abyss Studio, the band decided to return to the loving arms of a Children Of Bodom trustee, Anssi Kippo, and the bowels of Astia Studio. The result was nothing short of breathtaking. On Hate Crew Deathroll, which was released in January 2003, not only did the band take their songwriting into new levels of aggressivity and heaviness but the way the songs were carried out pummeled everything they -or anyone, for that matter- had done into dust. While only a few systematic studies exist, Cardon et al.’s review suggests passion as a prevalent phenomenon among entrepreneurs. They make a call for empirical and systematic studies of entrepreneurial passion to provide insights for practice and research. This paper aims to apply the recent theoretical advances in a particular empirical setting: the heavy metal genre in the popular music industry. Design/methodology/approach – Using a qualitative in-depth case study approach, four ventures that are considered new ventures in the metal music business are studied. Findings – The findings strongly imply that the grounds for a globally successful creative venture require the passion of at least one inventor entrepreneur. Also, at least one founder is needed to take the venture to the next stage, where business is formalized for ramp up and at least one developer is needed to grow the business after the other two identities and earlier stages of the venture life cycle have created the platform on which to build and develop the business. The paper also finds that these role identity-related behaviors are essential characteristics for artists in the popular music industry.

Sarà stato per il nome, che gli ricordava il Manchester United, o perché fra i pochi nomi che riuscì a compitare riconobbe quello della sua patria: Kenya. Sammy lo mise in tasca, ammesso che ne avesse una, e non se ne separò più. Nemmeno quando il padre morì assassinato durante una guerra per bande. Nemmeno quando cominciò a fare lo spacciatore per sfamare la madre e i dieci fratellini. Nemmeno quando entrò in coma per una overdose di cocaina. Fu guardando il dépliant, al risveglio, che comprese come un’altra vita sia sempre possibile. Si mise a lavorare per un'associazione di beneficenza. Conobbe un inglese che, colpito dalla sua conversione, volle conoscerne la molla. Sammy si toccò la tasca, ammesso che ne avesse una: il dépliant era lì, ingiallito e stropicciato, ma l’indirizzo si leggeva ancora bene. Eh oui, comment définir autrement l’engouement qu’a suscité l’annonce de la tournée des australiens puisque tous les concerts ont été "sold out" en moins de temps qu’il faut pour le dire ou presque. Et dire que l’on entend encore que le hard ne fait plus recette et qu’il est démodé !!! En effet, en quelques dizaines de minutes les tickets pour les shows de Paris les 25 et 27 février 2009 ainsi que celui de Zurich le 29 mars 2009 ont été vendus. Pour les nombreux malchanceux, ils pourront se consoler en écoutant le nouvel album (qui est excellent, puisque j’ai pu l’écouter avant sa sortie le 20 octobre) "Black Ice" et se rabattre sur les concerts d’Airbourne en décembre (voir en fin de magazine pour les dates), un autre combo d’Australie, dont la musique se rapproche de manière insolente de celle d’AC/DC. (Yves) EISBRECHER - SÜNDE (2008 – durée : 55’52’’ - 13 morceaux) Si vous n’en pouvez plus d’attendre le nouveau Rammstein, je vous conseille de jeter votre dévolu sur Eisbrecher, combo allemand (évidemment) dont la musique possède les mêmes caractéristiques que l’illustre combo. Même musique martiale, riffs plombés, un gros côté électro, voix grave à la Till Lindemann. Les compos sont vraiment réussies, alternant rythmes entraînants ("Kann Denn Liebe Sünde Sein", "Heilig" qui se voit renforcé par un chant féminin) et quelques titres plus cool ("Herzdieb", "Zu Sterben") Les textes restent ancrés dans le style indus avec un coté sombre ("Komm Süsser Tod", "1000 Flamnen").

November 2015 Stuttgart-Wangen LKA/Longhorn Gäste: Sylosis LAMB OF GOD und CHILDREN OF BODOM existieren beide seit über zwei Jahrzehnten und zählen zu den wichtigsten Vertretern des progressiven Heavy Metal. Anders als viele Genre-Kollegen, lassen sich weder die US-Amerikaner von LAMB OF GOD noch die Finnen CHILDREN OF BODOM auf einen speziellen Stil festnageln. Vielmehr steht die kreative Weiterentwicklung druckvoller Rockmusik im Zentrum ihres Schaffens. Die jeweils letzten Studioveröffentlichungen beider Formationen liegen mittlerweile fast drei Jahre zurück. Im Zuge der für 2015 geplanten Alben gehen sie zusammen auf Co-Headline-Welttour, die sie vom 17. bis 30. November für sechs Konzerte in Stuttgart, Oberhausen, Wiesbaden, München, Leipzig und Hamburg auch nach Deutschland führt. Begleitet werden sie dabei von dem Special Guest Sylosis. Die Geschichte von LAMB OF GOD geht zurück auf das Jahr 1990, als sich Gitarrist Mark Morton, Bassist John Campbell und Drummer Chris Adler an der Universität von Virginia kennenlernten und die Band Burn The Priest gründeten. Bereits ihr damaliger, zu Beginn noch rein instrumentaler Stil changierte zwischen den Subgenres Death, Thrash und Heavy Metal – eine zu eindeutige Festlegung auf einen Sound wollten sie vermeiden. Die ersten Jahre verbrachten sie fast täglich im Proberaum, um ihre Qualitäten als Instrumentalisten und Songwriter zu schärfen. 1994 stieß Sänger und Shouter Randy Blythe hinzu, was eine stilistische Öffnung zur Folge hatte. Bis Ende der 90er firmierte die Band unter dem alten Namen, mit dem sie aufgrund des religiösen Bezuges allerdings immer wieder aneckte. Daher erfolgte kurz nach Veröffentlichung ihres Debütalbums „Burn The Priest“ und der Aufnahme des fünften Mitglieds, dem Gitarristen Willie Adler, die Umbenennung in LAMB OF GOD.

Foto: Pressens bilder Jag brukar sällan tala tyst om att Children of Bodom Skriven: Juni & juli 2010 är mitt favoritband och delvis pga detta men också eftersom bandet gått och blivit ett av dödsmetallens absolut största band med sina sex studioalbum, två livealbum och tiotalet singlar och EPs har vi plockat ihop en Children of Bodom-special, exklusivt för Hallowed med intervjuer och recensioner från bandets karriär. Så, luta er tillbaka i datastolen och njut av att vi firar 13 år med Children of Bodom! Historien of Children of Bodom började egentligen fyra år tidi- innebar att bandets skiva skulle gare när Alexi Laiho och Jaska släppas i hela Finland och troligt- veräna keyboards.
