Eli Paperboy Reed Meets 7'' 1 High & Mighty Brass Band is a powerhouse of a record that provides an ideal backdrop for Reeds falsetto screams - by matching them in brass.

The whole of side one is an uninterrupted symphony of R&B. Just listen to the two versions of the absurdly great “C. C. Rider”. On the other hand side two is most of BURDON, ERIC & NIGHTS IN their psychedelic material. Compared to the previous Animals albums, this just seems to pack a little more punch than any of the others with the possible exception of LP 1 Animal Tracks.

Side One contains broadcast recordings taken from TV and radio between December 1965 and March 1967. But it is Side Two that is of great historical signficance for Byrdmaniacs. The Winterland show from December 1967 offers a glimpse of the Byrds as a three-piece band. David Crosby and Michael Clarke had left in the summer, BYRDS THE BYRDS LP 1 but Clarke returned for this . The recording quality is not great but the sound is unlike any other Byrds recording, with McGuinn’s 6-string Gretsch powering the group along on hard rock versions of their hits and others such as Miles Davis’s Milestones and ’s Baby, What You Want Me To Do. PRESSED ON DOUBLE PURPLE VINYL Cam’ron’s 2nd Roc-A- Fella full-length and 4th overall went gold for a reason. In the early 2000s, Cam and his Diplomats were ruling New York. Among numerous producers in his stable, relative newcomer Kanye West brings the heat twice here, with the single “Down & Out” (with Kanye Cam'ron Purple Haze (RSD) pulling double duty, also rocking the mic) and “Dip-Set Forever.” 2LP 2
