LADC.ORG A Message from the President

Dear Fellow LADC Members:

I invite you to the 2020 LADC Annual Meeting at the Atlantis in Paradise Island, Bahamas.

Paradise Island is hidden among a group of islands that are ideally located between the Atlantic and and is only a few hundred miles from the southern coast of . The Island is rich in history, culture, and spirit. It has served as home throughout its history to various groups, ranging from pirates to freed slaves to English settlers. The location of our Annual Meeting – the Atlantis -- is a dynamic Oceanside destination that launched over two decades ago as a first of its kind marvel of nature and engineering. Atlantis recently started a new chapter of its operation that connects itself to the ocean, Bahamian culture and the spirit of the property’s 7,500 employees. The resort offers five uniquely designed and constructed hotels which offer a variety of price points, amenities and experiences for its guests. Atlantis sponsors various programs and events that allow its guests to engage in the rich culture, history, art, people, food, and festivities of the Bahamas.

Our Annual Meeting will begin at the Royal Overlook with a local Junkanoo Show (Bahamian cultural celebration) and Calypso Steel Band. The Royal Overlook sits high above the Dig Deck and is surrounded by vibrant seasonal foliage and panoramic views. We will close the Annual Meeting with a delicious lobster and filet dinner while enjoying the sweeping views of the Underwater Ruins of the Atlantis in the onsite Fathoms.

We have restructured the Annual Meeting to allow you to maximize your time by independently engaging in extracurricular activities or excursions that fit your personal interest. I guarantee that you will have a memorable experience at Paradise Island, whether you opt for Bahamian cuisine at one of two restaurants at Atlantis led by renowned chefs Julie Lightbourn and Jose Andres, or sunbathe at the white sand beaches of Paradise Island, or experience the unprecedented 6,300 acre waterscape Aquaventure at Atlantis, or snorkel, play with sea lions or play golf at the popular Ocean Club.

Most notably, we will have a well-organized CLE program each morning that will include a variety of topics relevant to your practice.

Come one, come all! We will have an enjoyable week in picturesque Paradise Island. I look forward to seeing you there.
