Tri-Valley Sheepdog Club All-Breed AKC Agility Trials

Saturday and Sunday April 7-8, 2012 Trial Hours 7:00 am – 5:00 pm Judging will commence at 8:30 am

Thank you for your entry. This is the second confirmation of your entry into the Tri-Valley Shetland Sheepdog Club agility trials being held April 7-8, 2012. Move-Ups All pre-show move ups must be received by 6 pm, Monday April 2. The AKC requires move-ups to be in writing. You may send an email for a move-up to [email protected] with your name, your ’s call name, the name & date of the trial and what class you want the dog to be moved to. There will be day-to-day move-ups at the show pro- vided the Trial Secretary receives them within 20 minutes after the end of the last class. There will be no move-ups in the morning before the start of the trial.

Directions to Rancho Tapo Community Park Take 118 Ronald Reagan Fwy to Simi Valley. Take “Tapo Canyon Rd” Exit, Then: AUTOS: Proceed 1 mile to “Avenida Simi” (there is no light at “Avenida Simi”). Turn Left (West) and proceed ½ mile to Park. Park/Parking is on Left. RVs: Proceed ½ mile to light at “Alamo Ave”. Turn Left (West) and go ¼ mile. Turn Right into DMV lot and drive past that to Park. Parking on Left side near back of Simi Courthouse

RV parking RV parking is available at the park. No hook ups. RV parking is free. Parking is behind the Simi Courthouse so you must wait until the close of business on Friday to park.

Very Important Site Information must be attended to and on a leash at all times. Dogs may not be left unattended or left outside of Vehicle or RV at night. Please keep area picked up of trash and dog hair from grooming. Designated trash bins have been provided.

Raffle, Raffle, Raffle Bring your $$$ and or/Donations Southland Sheltie Rescue will be having a raffle on Saturday. If you have anything– items, baskets or services– to donate to the raffle please contact Melissa Henning at [email protected] or just bring the donation with you. Raffle will start after the Excellent classes are finished on Saturday. All donations to Southland Sheltie Rescue are tax deductible and 100% of all proceeds go directly to pay costs for the rescues. There is no overhead at all since everyone involved is a volunteer, most donating their own goods and services as well. Last year many shelties were placed through Southland Sheltie Rescue and a number of them are - rently participating in agility, obedience, rally, and as therapy dogs. Many others are simply content to be with their families and sit on the couch all day. TVSSC also donates $1.00 from each JWW entry to Southland Sheltie Rescue.

Lunch NO Lunches will be available for sale this year. There are several fast food restaurants a close distance from the park. Volunteers will receive free lunch.

The Ella Hoselton Memorial Award for TVSSC Members Only A special perpetual High Sheltie Trophy and Ribbon will be awarded to the Shetland Sheepdog owned and handled by a Tri-Valley Shetland Sheepdog Club member with the highest four round cumulative total for the weekend. High Scores will be tie broken with an equation for time under SCT handicapped by competition level for Standard and JWW rounds. (Handicap: Excellent= 2x (SCT minus dog’s time) Open= 1.5 x (SCT minus dog’s time) Novice=1 x (SCT minus dog’s time)

Set-up/Security You may set up on Friday afternoon after 4:00 pm A security guard will be on site Friday and Saturday nights. It is a large, busy park. Leave items at your own risk. Measuring Effective January 1, 2012, exhibitors are no longer required to provide proof to Trial Secretaries that their dog has a valid jump height card as part of the check-in process.

If an exhibitor designated on their entry that their dog needs to be on the Club’s “Dogs To Be Measured List” the dog must be measured/wicketed by the Judge of Record PRIOR to running in their class and this measurement will be valid for this weekend of trials only.

Class Running Order on Saturday & Sunday A, B and Preferred will run concurrently in all classes. Rings will run concurrently as listed below. All Novice and Open classes will run small to tall. Judging starts at 8:30 am

Volunteers Thank you, thank you, thank you! It’s not too late to volunteer. It takes a lot of people to put on a successful trial. If you can work a class or two, please contact Kathy Kogen at [email protected]. Workers will get a free lunch, drinks and are eligible for the two $50.00 cash worker raffles each day. If you have already volunteered Jeff and Kathy Kogen will contact you separately regarding your assignments.

The Border Club of Greater Los Angeles is hosting an AKC sanction B agility match following the Tri-Valley sheltie club show on Sat. April 7th. Entries will be taken starting at noon. Two rings will be set up. Entries are $6/run, or four runs for $20.
